Australia Live TV TeleText Subtitle error

No problem with Live TV play back but play back will stop when I enable Australia Live TV TeleText subtitle. On Google Chromecast TV I received error " Recording failed. Please check your tuner or antenna. On web will receive “This live TV session has ended”.

Under Playback settings menu, subtitles, it did come up English (DVB_TELETEXT) to let me select but the play back will stop when I select it.

When I select DVB_TELETEXT subtitle track on Plex for Mac, or Plex for Playstation 5, or Plex Web in Safari, the stream immediately ends with a “Source not available” error or a “This TV session has ended” error. I’m using an officially supported VBox Gateway.

Pretty irritating. I purchased the gateway specifically hoping to have subtitles access, as I am hard of hearing.

Confirmed DVB Teletext subtitles work perfectly in VLC over VBox Gateway’s UPnP interface (that VLC autodiscovered, really good easy experience).

So it seems like this issue is definitely something in Plex.

How to use VLC to play Live TV?

I don’t know how or if it would work with your WinFast. For my VBox it just appears under UPnP devices in vlc and has a playlist of all the channels I can just click in to to stream.

May be didn’t work with tuner card.

VLC HowTo/Use a capture card - VideoLAN Wiki maybe this guide would work?

I follow this instruction and get TeleText subtitle working with VLC but not with Plex.

This is an issue we’re aware of and are actively working on at the moment (I’m in Australia myself).

Are you aware of any workarounds? Could I downgrade my plex server or something? I’m running it on FreeBSD (in a TrueNAS Core jail)

No, it’s dependent on the client support, which is something we’re working on at the moment.

Can confirm, 1.23 1.24 1.25 1.26 all have the same problem.

Latest server update still didn’t fix the problem, I can’t believe will take that long to fix a common and important problem.

After 2-3 updates still nobody care to fix it.

Still nobody care to fix an important but easy problem.

This is a show stopper and Plex has know for years it something they need to fix. I am a lifetime pass holder and this has made me move to the channels app (that has a subscription) which fully supports subtitles in aus.l vis HDHomeRun @DaveBinM any update on this? Its the one thing that holds me back for recommending Plex to others in aus!

If there’s any way I can provide help to debug this, like granting plex staff access to my plex server so they can repro the issue outside DVB-T regions, happy to do so

Gave up, they don’t care.

Even don’t want to reply

Trying to retire my aging MythTV system to Plex (Using 3x HDHRs).

Plex Server: 1.30.1.6497.
Plex Web: 4.87.2

Plex Server is running in a LXC (Linux Container) in Proxmox with a Quadro P1000 card. Host is running Proxmox and the CPU is AMD 5600G.

Can’t watch TV if I turned on DVB-T subtitles are enabled. Tested on both Nvidia Shield and web player.

Hope this issue will be fixed.
