DVD Order Agent

I just installed this on version 1.3.3.3148 and it works perfectly. Firefly is now in the right order after selecting fix correct match and choosing the DVD ordering.

Is there any sort of recommended process we should follow when the TVDBdvdorder agent returns “No matches found.” for a specific series?

Nevermind. I think I was able to get this solved by unmatching the series first, then matching it to the TVDBdvdorder agent, as opposed to using the “Fix incorrect match” method.

After reading this, I tried it and it worked as well.

I’m running PMS version 1.3.3.3148 and just installed this plug-in today. I’m trying to reorder my Batman: The Animated Series episodes to follow the dvd order, but every time I search I get “no matches found”. I’m running this on Windows 10. Here’s what I’ve done:

-Downloaded the dvd order agent plugin and unzipped it.

  • Placed the “DVDOrder.bundle” folder into “C:\Users\Plex\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins”
-Exited PMS (right click exit,) then re-opened it
    -Unmatched the series
-Went Match > Search Options and searched “Batman: The Animated Series” with “The TVDBdvdorder” and received “No Matches Found” (I’ve also tried searching “Batman” and still get no results)

Can anyone help me with this. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s broken or something. I’ve never used plugins before, so it’s very possible I made a dumb mistake. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m having the same trouble as tschraml with Batman the animated series.

I tried this and when I close Plex and re-open it; the DVD bundle is gone and doesn’t show up in m search options. After fighting with Doctor Who for so long, I thought this would be easy. Guess I still don’t really know what I’m doing.

I’ve had luck using HuggableSquare’s github repo. On a Mac the installation looked like this:

cd "~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/"
git clone https://github.com/HuggableSquare/DVDOrderAgent.bundle

Then:

  • Restarting PMS
  • Opening the show in question (eg. Futurama, Firefly)
  • Choosing “Fix Incorrect Match”
  • Clicking “Search Options”
  • Choosing “TheTVDBdvdorder” from the Agent dropdown
  • Removing the year from the textbox (!)
  • And choosing the show that appears

Kudos to all involved, many thanks.

Thanks so much @jphastings! I tried that bundle and the steps you laid out (after removing the “-master” from the bundle name haha) and was still having a few issues. I would’t come up with the series I needed, but Firefly and Futurama were working. I then used “Batman: The Animated Series” as the search term, which I copied directly from TheTVDB. It seems to be really picky about how it’s entered. After doing so, it found the series and correctly matched it! Thank you.

Hey everyone! I installed this plug-in last week, and for the most part it works, but I’m still having an issue with the setup. I’m currently trying to match two different shows with it (Enlisted and Almost Human), and while it does suceed in correcting episode order and synopsis, the shows have no images to speak of—no poster, background or episode stills at all—instead, the image-related settings display empty boxes, as if the images failed to load. My first instinct was to check the Agent settings, and I noticed that ‘Local Media Assets’ wasn’t listed on the agent’s options at first. I restarted the server and it solved that issue, but the main problem continues.

I’m not sure if there’s a step I missed, or if there’s a collective work-around to this issue that I haven’t stumbled upon, but this thread is relatively long to read completely as is; and being fairly new to Plex, I’m completely blank as to what keyword I could search for. I considered manually adding all the images and calling it a day, but the prospect of handling future “alternatively ordered” shows in this way feels ridiculous, which is why I assume there’s something I’m missing. Any suggestions?

P.S. I attached a few screenshots just in case.

For anyone using my modified TheTVDB.bundle, please note that I will no longer be updating it after PMS v1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80. Beginning with v1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80, Plex Media Server’s built-in TheTVDB.bundle supports DVD ordering.

No mention of this in the release notes for v1.4.1.3362-77c6a4f80, but it’s clear from the code changes that Plex have now implemented this functionality for themselves.

Awesome! When will this be released to everyone. Or has it already? I haven’t updated in months because I’ve had too many updates in be past break things.

@jooniloh In reference to Scooby Doo, you’re wrong. I have the same problem, but TVdb matches “Scooby Doo, Where Are You! S01E01” correctly as “What A Night For A Knight”, but in Plex it shows up as “High Rise Hair Raiser”. This is not a TVdb problem, it’s a Plex problem. “Scooby Doo, Where Are You!” is a different show than “The Scooby Doo Show”.

I just tried the new version of PMS and it works perfectly. Thanks for working on this for so long keeping us going until they got it built in.

Also this fixes the only annoying things about using the separate plugin
you can use local media assets now.

OK here is what I did to undo this:

In windows 10

  • Right Click on Plex Icon
  • Open Plugins Folder
  • Right Click on Plex Icon
  • Click Exit to kill the Plex Server
  • Delete the ‘DVD Order Agent.bundle’
  • Restart Plex Server
  • Update the Plex Server
  • Restart after it crashed - ha!

Firefly was STILL ordered correctly without the DVD Order Agent bundle installed. But is that because of the Plex server update or is Plex just remembering how it was before?

If I want to switch between orders how would I do that under the new server how would I do that? So, for example, I’m still working my way through my many cartoon DVDs. Some were still not ordered ‘properly’ under the DVD Order Agent. But at least I knew the steps to take to order them correctly. How would I do that now? Anyone?

Just an FYI for anybody looking for the native implemenation.
Go to a Series, click Edit -> Advanced -> Episode Ordering -> DVD Order

Thanks, that’s exactly what I wanted to know!!! Strangely Firefly remained in the right order after removing the DVD Order Agent bundle. When I did what retrop7 said above the DVD order wasn’t checked. Once I checked the DVD order it was STILL the DVD order. Whatever DVD Order Agent bundle did before I removed it just stayed that way regardless of using this new built in setting.

Looking forward to testing it with some of the kids TV series that I never got around to fixing (mostly because the kids can’t read yet and understand the description for the shows they are watching are wrong! Ha!

So how do I change it back to the original bundle now that yours is deprecated?

Perhaps you might want to follow my instructions 3 posts above yours!

Hm, it seems the native version does not play all too well with decimal DVD episodes. I’m assuming trying to get your to work now that it gets deprecated is not worth the effort, right?

I must be missing something here - when you say
“Just an FYI for anybody looking for the native implemenation.

I don’t have an ‘Advanced’ option in the edit menu.
Is that a premium thing?
I have a series that insists on displaying broadcast order, when I have it in DVD order

Cancel last, after shutting down PMS for the umpteenth time, it finally generated an advanced option for me. Strange it took so long
