Thanks for raising this, will be looking at it asap. Can you test something for me in the meantime?

If you don’t choose a library to add to, does the button then work? from what I have witnessed there is a slight issue when setting that so it fails to add a recording, but only if I set the library first.

There is no library pre-selected, so nothing happens when I press the button when I don’t select a library first. Btw when I selected one, I cannot change it anymore, it stays on that very library.
And another strange thing:
I have several movie libraries, but even if I choose library 2 or 3, it selects library 1 and stays like that, no matter what.

I am about to recreate my PlexDVR with xmltv data, just to see if this changes something. Because some of my scheduled recordings where showing “no further airings” while I just created it from the guide via the web interface. Something is fishy here

Ok now t works when I don’t set a library but straight hit record. I have no idea why.
I have cancelled a previously scheduled series recording and now I can also program new movie recordings, at least when I don’t set the library. If I want to set one, it still doesn’t work.

BIt of an update on this, it will work when you do not have a library selected but fails when you do because of an id mismatch in the request to the server.

I have a fix for it now so should be in the next beta :slight_smile:

@daioio Maybe I have this wrong but on my Android phone in the app Add to Library is blank and it does not work. If I select a Library, it still does not work.

On my Shield TV, the same things happens, except there the Library is pre-selected so I can’t leave it blank. Even if I could, I doubt it’d work since changing the Library either doesn’t take or selects a Library I did not select (which sounds like that ID mismatch issue).

The browser works, thankfully, but not ideal that the TV app doesn’t
kind of defeats the purpose.

Is there a similar thread following this issue for the Shield TV as well? I couldn’t find one.

Hi @daioio , I seem to have the same ‘record’ issue with all my Android Plex client Apps (S8+, Fire TV, Fire Cube etc.) but works well using app.plex.tv web client using browsers on all devices but is more fiddly to use. Is what I am doing possible on the clients (first usage enabled using a pin number) or are there recording restriction using the apps due to client constraints even though I am using the ‘admin’ user pin?
I note you refer to a fix, and if relevant, has it been done and if so what version is it please?

This issue is still present in 1.19.1.2645. It make dvr unusable with Android and force me to use the web interface to record shows and movies in the right folder. Are you close to fix this? It has been there for many months. Please fix it ASAP.

@daioio, can you give us an update on this? It is very annoying. I can’t use Android app to schedule recording at all.

Sorry for the delay, I am working on a lot of DVR improvements at the moment. The original fix was something more immediate which sounds like it worked for some but there must be some other variable impacting recording for others. If you could provide any of the following that would be a great help:

  1. How many libraries do you have for shows? Or when you go to record how many options for libraries does it give you in the setting?
  2. Are you able to provide any logs that capture when you press to record from the Android app?

@daioio, Thanks for the quick reply.

I have 2 libraries for shows and more for movies. I like to split kids stuff from other things I record.

Let say I want to record a show. The default library show under “Add to library” will be the library where the show will be recorded even if I change it.

Also, before this issue, I used to have multiple folder under a library. Like under a lib DVR, I have a folder for kid movies and on for all other movies. This doesn’t work anymore. The folder selection do not appear at all in the recording screen in Android but was working in PLEX Web.

I looked into the logcat on my phone and I didn’t see any error message and I looked into my server console and didn’t see anything obvious to me. If you want me to do more specific stuff, juste tell me want you need and I will do my best to help you.

Are there plans to implement recording to a certain library?
I am on the edge of using PlexDVR more often but this keeps me from doing it because planning recordings with my Android device would be my primary go to option.

@DreamHomeTheater so I managed to reproduce what I think might be the issue this week, however I wasn’t getting any specific errors like your mentioned but it also wasn’t happening every time so I am not 100% sure it is exactly the problem you have seen. I have set up a bit of an environment that I am adjusting to try and catch this error for different scenarios but it’s looking to be quite obscure and some other variables must be involved. I am going to see what else I can figure out but I think I might have an idea. We freeze a new beta early next week so my changes probably won’t land In that on the day the new beta is available but I will still aim to get something into that beta within the next couple weeks :slightly_smiling_face:

@daioio, I wonder if this issue is not an mobile apps issue. If I use the web interface, I am able to select the on which library I want to record that movies or show but from the mobile application, I am unable to change it. I mean, there is a default library selected, and if I changed it, it have no effect.

I am having the same problem. I have Windows 10 Pro also with a Hauppage Quad HD tuner, and I can schedule recordings from the web interface and the Windows Plex player software, but I cannot record using either of my Nvidia Shields Plex or my Android’s Plex. It just says “An error has occurred, please try again later” on both Android and Android TV.

Hello @daioio - how are you getting on with a fix for this? I just updated to the latest app version and see that the ‘add to library’ preferences are still not being saved.
