DVR: cannot plan recording from Android app

@daioio Can you please respond? DVR was supposed to be getting better in this app, but it appears to be getting worse.

I also have this problem even on 8.14.0.23337.
I have 3 TV libraries. When trying to schedule a recording on Android it’s falling unless I select the 1st library.
All libraries have more than one folder (drive). So does the 1st TV library that does work.

Instant recording while watching something always fails when the last scheduled recording was set to not use the first library.

What could be the difference between my 3 libraries, why would it accept “tv-shows” but not “documentaries” and “TV shows - DVR”?

Also when a library has more than one folder (drive) why isn’t it possible to choose to what folder (drive) Plex should record to? I mean it’s possible to select on the webinterface?

Hi all  Sorry for the delay, Thanks for raising these. I have raised the issues so we are looking Into them now.

@mbarylski do you have any logs by any chance for the scheduling and searching issues? I’m guessing your searches never return Live TV results?

Thanks again, appreciate the reports :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, that’s right. On mobile no search results are returned for Live TV. On the web, search results are returned, but only after selecting search all sources.

For team selected recordings, it worked briefly after I switched to Gracenote. I’m not sure when it stopped working, but it was there long enough during the US Football season to plan an NFL team recording.

@daioio - How are you getting on with sorting out the ‘An error has occurred, please try again later’ problem? This is still not resolved in version 8.14.0, thanks.

8.14.0.23432
for me, I record to the first option (successful) and then change to another folder (that I got an error for if it had been selected initially) and this works.

@daioio Any update on the search and recording fixes? I mentioned Team recordings being an issue, but it appears the number of recordings is also an issue. So, that same field doesn’t work for anything. See image below which is from the web app.

@daioio Team recordings and # of recordings. I learned it’s grayed out when selecting the program, but the options show up when viewing the episode.

Search still doesn’t work. Any update?

@daioio Any update on the search issue within mobile?

Thanks @bamirb - Yes, this work around does seem to allow recordings to be made.

@daioio - Do you have any update on when this will be properly fixed?

@daioio, any updates on this issue? Still cannot record with the mobile app.

@marekszulik, I am taging you because dvr recording on Android mobile app is broken since over a year. Despite the help of @daioio, it is still not fix. Can you put some pressure on the dev team to fix this once for all?

Regards,

@daioio

Installed version 8.16.0 this morning. I am now able to setup records on libraries that have multiple location. If I want to record something on a library that have only one location, there is no selection option available and I have “An error has occurred, please try again later” little popup.

Search with Live TV filter is working now, thanks!

Hi, can you guide how to play on android? i got Mi tv device, and downloaded app. but movies not showing

I’ve just picked up the HDHomeRun in the UK and set this up within Plex - had to use web version to configure the locations for the folders as not wanting in the same place as normal shows and movies.

I can set recordings on a windows pc through plex, but unable to do so on any of my android devices, which is how we are using plex. i’ve not tested apple tv yet but is there any idea of when this will be resolved so can use as intended.

Scheduling recordings from my Android phone has not worked in the past, but it does today.

I can select/change the library, which didn’t work before, and schedule movies and shows both fine.

I am not saying your problems don’t exist, just wanted to give my (positive) feedback.

I am running the Android beta 8.16.0.24423 currently.
