Hi all,
Life with Plex has been very good to me!

Question:
Is it possible to have one network TV tuner and 2 channel line ups?
The settings menu implies this is possible but I can’t seem to make it happen.

Why this would be nice?
I have 414 channels…most channels are in both SD and HD. (200 SD/200 HD)
At home I watch only HD so scrolling through 200 channels to get to HD ones is cumbersome.
Remotely my WIFI stinks so I can only stream SD.

Can I have 2 Channel line ups with one TV tuner?

(If not possible…maybe an addition of SD/HD in drop down menu of live TV would be sweet!)

Any feedback would be great!

What client are you using… because some clients have this (sort of – it’s labeled “HD Channels” but it actually displays what the guide identifies as “HD content” or an “HD program” – it’s a Plex thing)

Try this plugin…

I use it and have favorites setup with only HD channels and others with only SD for this exact reason.
Hopefully at some point the built in Plex will have these options as well.

this way I have my top 30 channels and only the HD version of it.

Personally I disabled all SD channels on my lineups if they have an HD version.

If I’m remote on a poor connection I adjust the bitrate lower to force transcoding. This way I still get “wide screen”.

If you really want an SD only guide/channels and have another computer available on the LAN install Plex on it and use it for NOTHING but LiveTV and only setup the SD channels on it. This way use Plex1 for HD and Plex2 for SD.

Main client 95% of the time 4kFireTV@5GHz.
Menu on live tv has no sort.
The guide works well unless you scroll fast then it loses the current time/shows where you can click around and recover with minimal effort.

I used this plugin for years…Zynine was an excellent plugin pro.
This may just be a nice workaround.

Cayars…
Tried disabling all SD channels.
My remote WIFI sucks so bad that I can’t establish a workable connection regardless of play settings.

Do you have another computer on the lan that is always on that you could use for nothing but SD channels on a Plex Server? Very minimal setup.

If you have an android device you may be able to load up Plex Server on that and use it only for the SD channels.
