best tuner (How to get FULL HD) question

Hello all I tried to look up anything similar to my question but did not find anything, so if this question has been asked before my apologies. So I have the Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner for Xbox One TV or WinTV-HVR-955Q. And when I first tested out the live tv and dvr I actually took my current providers coax (because we still have a cable subscription) and hooked everything up. When I was setting up my channels I tried to make sure to put all the channels on the HD ones and my tuner found around 400 channels and it said I had something like 50 setup for the HD. Now I would say about 80% of the time I would click on what was supposed to be a HD channel I would get a SD recording and video stream.

So my question is this, Did I do everything right? Also if I need to get a new tuner what should it be. I just want to make sure all my channels are full HD. Like I said I will have my full HD channels from my cable provider because me and my wife take care of my grandmother and she only can work that she doesn’t want to mess with plex and all that. Thanks!

I use the HDHR and have HD channels and SD channels.

Do you have a client for your TV tuner separate from Plex like some Hauppauge client so you can confirm you actually get HD channels on that tuner?

Also you can check you channel mappings in plex and make sure you have them mapped correctly:
Settings --> Server --> DVR and click the enabled channels mine shows 366

This maps my SD channels to SD numbers 2 - 6 and HD channels are mapped to HD channels on the tuner if that makes sense.

I haven’t thought of testing it on other software yet I will probably do that later today. But yes like in your picture I did map all the channels to their HD counterpart cause I didn’t care to see anything in low resolution. But will try another software with the same device and updates if I see it.
