DVR confusing PBS w/ movie

When programming my DVR, particularly on PBS, it confuses the type of program and limits my locations to save the program. I’m clearly on PBS, it is obviously a TV program being recorded OTA.

But when I try to select the location to save the media it limits me to these locations which are all movie based. Where I want to save the program is in “Brenda OPB” where I place Antique Roadshow, Amanpour, Washington Week, etc.

Thanks for the help, Fred

Even if it is broadcast via TV, it doesn’t mean it is not a “movie”.
“TV Shows” in Plex mean strictly ‘episodic’ content – i.e. a series.

UItimately, it is the EPG which is determining what is classified as a ‘movie’ and what as a ‘series’.
Plex will just use this information and decides whether to record it into a movie or into a tv show library.

It also happens that some airings have a wrong classification in the EPG.

Thank you so much for the answer.
I was guessing that was what was happening.

Also is EPG responsible for deciding what is a repeat show?
I sometimes don’t get episodes that are set to record.

Last, could I move the video to a different directory/folder and force Plex to scan the old and new folders so it is where I would like it to be?

Thanks again for the help, Fred

Moving it into a TV Show-type of library will only work if it is actually a series.
Otherwise it won’t get recognised. And it needs a series-style filename to get recognized.

Thanks again for the answer. I forgot about the unique naming convention. Makes total sense.

Yes. The EPG sometimes doesn’t contain a season/episode number. Thus Plex thinks this is a re-broadcast of the same episode it already has recorded.
