DVR scheduled recordings on QNAP NAS does not start at all. Only when i start it by hand then it will record.
Also deleted program recordings stay visible in the program guide while the whole schedule is removed.
Very disappointing feature within plex.
I think i will buy DVBlogic for my recordings because this is not working at all within plex.
did you set the recording to require “HD” ? I had this problem and found it wasn’t recording, even when it was from a HD channel. I assume its something to do with the EPG information.

What does this mean exactly?

I have a similar problem, I think, that I can’t find a solution to in the forums as of yet.
I have two plex servers, PC & Synology NAS, and two HDHomerun tuners, Extend & Connect. Any scheduled recording will fail. I’ve tried all combos of servers and tuners, but I get ‘transcoding error’ message. However if I record a live show from the lineup by clicking the record button, it records the show just fine. (I think this is what OP means by ‘started by hand’)
It’s super frustrating and I am not sure where to go from this point. I’ve gotten a bunch of pointers/tips from scouring these forums.
Also having major inconsistencies. I just tried converting from HD only to any recording setting. We’ll see if that works. Using a HD HomeRun Prime.
When you schedule to record a series, do any episodes show up in the Scheduled Recordings calendar?
What if you modify the recording settings and pick New and Repeat Airings?
In my case, oh yeah the shows plop right into the scheduled recordings, everything looks great. Then the recording will just fail with a '! There was a transcoder error". I’ve selected all resolutions and included repeat airings. As an aside, I cannot change the single vs series selection even when I delete the recording, but that’s less important.
Next I want to see if a scheduled recording fails then quickly try to simply watch the show live. There’s an update out this week for the Synology NAS so I’m going to apply that before I pull out more hair.

Please provide some diagnostic logs for when the problem arises

see my log files.up to now not able to record any series… only when a tv show is playing, and i hit the record button it will record. but programs that did not start already won’t record. nothing happens even no message.
also when you delete a record tv show it stays mentioned in the record agenda. is there an option to remove it there. You don’t want old records that has been deleted in the record agenda for ever.
Works just fine for me. Records up to 10 shows everyday. all watchable all viewable on any platform.
Please turn off verbose logging and grab another set of logs. Would also appreciate if you could provide a particular show to look for that should have recorded. Try to grab logs a few minutes after the next airing should have ended that way we can see when the show should have started/ended and any messages during/after the show should have ended.
see a specific situation in this PDF. i will also make new log files.
Is TLCHD marked as a DRM channel in your area? You can’t setup one channel 21 Comedy Central that is seen as an available channel to be TLCHD. That would never work correctly. Plex can only work with non-DRM channels.
log files without verbose
TLCHD from our provider Caiway is a NON DRM channel.
It show’s up as a channel and when the show is on i can watch it in plex. it also show’s up in the program guide but when you click dvr channel settings you have a left and right list with channels/programs… there it only show in the right list of channels and NOT in de left list…
But it is possible there for example to take a left listed channel name (comedy central) and connect it on the right to TLCHD…
If this should not be done why is this possible within plex when the plex server can’t handle this??
see attachment.

So then you should be able to map that channel. From your screenshots I could not see the channel in the available list on the left.

So you have the channel mapped correctly then somewhere in your channel list.

Of course it is possible. The user is expected to map the channel displayed from the tuner device to the correct channel for the program guide data. If the user maps the wrong channel Plex can’t prevent that situation. They are taking what you are saying as the correct channel mapping.

Do your logs cover the time period of a scheduled recording actually being made? If not they won’t be of much use to try to determine why recordings are not working for you.
I am having the same problem: I can record a program manually (watch it live and hit record), but scheduled recording results in what appears to be a successful recording, but when I try to watch it it says the file does not exist.
My server is running on a Windows 10 Server and the tuner is an HDHomeRun Connect. Live TV playback is choppy but works.
My logs are attached.
My Plex server has been running flawlessly serving media from my file server for months. I just bought the HDHomeRun and the results have not been encouraging.
