At random intervals, I discover that all of my shows have stopped recording. When this happens, I try to play live TV and Plex response with a playback error. (Note: If I use HDHomeRun’s app to watch live TV, it always works fine.)
This seems to resolve itself if I restart the Plex server. However I have no way to predict when it will start happening again. It’s very frustrating to only be able to discover it’s failing AFTER the DVR has already failed to record my shows.
Server Version#: 4.149.0
Player Version#: any
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun CONNECT Quattro
Guide/Lineup name: Local Broadcast Listings
Using XMLTV?: Don’t know
Channel number/Name: any
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
I have this same exact issue with the exact variables as well. When I use the HDhomeRun app it works fine. As soon as I go to plex, it never plays back live TV. This started happening recently, this was not the case say a month or so ago. The solution is always a server restart but the problem comes back a day or so later.
@SchwartzCentral has database problems, hopefully it is just the EPG one.
Stop Plex
Go to the Databases directory and delete 3 files “tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud*”
When you start plex it should rebuild the guide
While you are in the the Databases directory, check the size of:
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db
They shouldn’t be very large.
Check the dates on the backups, should see 5 of them going back every 3 days, if they are 15 days old then it can’t complete a backup.
My ota DVR also has been failing. Either few seconds or refuses to record or stops half way in.
Just to keep thread open.
Noticed old set of files so deleted. Think it was from last time I reinstalled.
Deleted three files.
Anyone else can confirm fix? Didn’t repair mine.
Plex ought to have db repair in tools.
Disabled transcode (while recording) in DVR tuners. Guess it could be an intel graphic update that has caused this? That was working before but now that I disabled it has fixed the stopping. Quality I think default was 90 (near best or best).
Wasn’t there a setting to allow plex access to gpu transcoding?
There is a setting I ether had or created in System, Display, Graphics where it can auto select for be forced for a choice Both Plex media server and Plex transcoder.
I recall using taskman to view gpu performance to see if the gpu was actually being used.
