I was watching the Olympics and playback stopped. I think it was somewhere around 9PM. This type of thing has happened multiple times, and each time it won’t play live tv again (on the server or any device) until a server restart. It also will not record any live tv until a server restart. I attached the logs.
I was thinking maybe it is this line where the problem occurred. I have noticed similar notes when it has happened before, but it may just be coincidence.
Feb 13, 2018 21:00:02.900 [0900] ERROR - Failed to delete session directory (boost::filesystem::remove: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process: “e: ranscode\Transcode\Sessions\plex-transcode-b4a92e01-bdad-49cb-97d8-09462c46a7a6\media-00002.ts”)
Any idea why this keeps happening?
For some reason certain shows refuse to record. I don’t have the logs for them, but I have a screenshot from the app that shows them listed in the recording schedule with white exclamation marks. Anyone know how to get these shows to record? My 20 month old needs his Daniel Tiger!
Background:
Server: windows 10
Tuner: Hdhomerun quad (4 tuners)
Playback on Roku streaming stick+, galaxy s6, directly on server, other windows 10 box.

I’ve noticed that it will fill the 4 tuners that it thinks are available to it (HDHomeRun 4 tuner), but recordings and live TV won’t “release” the tuner within plex once it is done (it does actually release it from the HDHomeRun) so the server thinks all the tuner slots are filled and won’t clear until a reboot. Hopefully this is fixed soon.
When I look at the web interface for the HDhomerun it looks like the tuners are getting released. Maybe the plex just thinks it hasn’t released the tuners for some reason.
I don’t think that is the root of this problem though.
I’m seeing something similar where I watch a couple sessions of LiveTV, and then the next time I go to watch LiveTV, it says it can’t start a session of something to that effect. If I restart Plex server, I can then watch again. My PlexServer is on Windows 10 also, but I am using the hauppauge WinTV-quadHD for a tuner.
Just wanted to chime in that this happens to me nearly every day. Win10, HDhomerun Prime, Shield TV. I feel like I need to set up a scheduled task to restart the Plex service every night.
Same here. I have Plex Version 1.11.1.4730 running on Ubuntu and recently added a HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo 10601235 (Version 20180110). I have to keep restarting the Linux server (or Stop/Start the Plex service) every other day because it stops seeing the HDHomeRun box and no longer show live video or records, however I can see the same box without any issues via it’s own app and Kodi.
I updated to the beta version, (1.11.3.4803) and it has gone two days without needing a restart. So it looks like something they fixed, but not in the public version yet. I’ll let you know if it has problems again later.

Oh, I had to change the update channel to beta in the advanced settings on the the general tab.
Okay, will it looks like I’m back to problems. Now with the new version I can’t time or record certain channels. Also, certain scheduled recordings won’t record.
I found a clue as to why plex won’t record some shows and will record others. Originally I had set the show to keep “episodes from the past 30 days”. I found later that this meant all episodes that originally aired in the last 30 days, so it would record an episode, and then immediately delete it. I changed to keep last 5 episodes (and checked it to a few times), which should keep the last 5 recorded episodes, but it kept deleting them immediately. Finally there was a new episode of the show that it recorded and kept. When I looked at the recording settings again, it had reverted back to keep episodes from the last 30 days. I again changed it again to keep last 5 recorded, and this time it looks like it has stuck. Now it is not immediately deleting the show anymore. Thus, it looks like there is a hidden setting for how episodes are kept, that can only be changed if there is a saved recording.
How can I get a developer to notice this post/clue, so it can be fixed on the next revision?
