I’m watching previously recorded video through the Plex app on a Roku device. Fast Forwarding is always a challenge since the video is not visible on the FF progress bar. Is there a setting for this or is it available using another streaming device?
You have to enable video preview thumbnails in your library. Then you have to Analyze it to get it to rescan them. If your library is big, this will take a long time. Once that’s done, I have to wait 5-10 minutes after the recording has completed to watch it, as it will not create them until it’s done recording.
Is there a way to make Analyze happen automatically instead of needing to manually do it?

Once you turn on the option, all new content will be analyzed automatically.
You can also go down and Analyze individual Shows, Seasons and Episodes.
I’ve confirmed in the app that Analyze is done, but I’m still not seeing any thumbnail previews in the Web App while hovering over the progress bar. Am I misunderstanding what the feature does?

They need to be enabled both globally and by-library. Most recently added files will get their previews first.
When I first looked at my advanced folder settings it appeared that this was enabled by default on all folders but was not working. I had to set it at the global level then go back and disable it on the folders that I didn’t want it on. After running analyze on the folder it worked.
