I just got a Plex pass mostly for dvr. I’ve used mythtv for a long time but I’ve got Rokus on all tvs and there isn’t really good integration so I figured I would give Plex a shot to see if I can retire mythtv.
First thing, I’m a little shocked that there is no ability to do a keyword recording rule. I didn’t even think to look if that was supported before purchasing. I now see old threads requesting this from years ago.
Second, why is it not possible to automatically skip ads instead of needing to hit the skip ads button?
Unfortunately, I suspect you’re only getting started at discovering the many things that you’re not going to like about the Live TV/DVR. You can’t even record by channel/time when you know the Guide isn’t right. Many of the bugs/deficiencies have been outstanding for years.
I hope you didn’t buy the lifetime pass if you got the Plex Pass to gain access to Live TV/DVR.
To be fair, on the skip ads issue, I assume that current implementation allows for the fact that the ad detector software will not be 100% perfect. If it just skipped automatically and you noticed that it skipped a section that was not an ad, then if you went back, it would skip again. I suppose they could come up with a UI to work around that. Anyway, we likely have the next 3 years to talk about since nothing is going to change.
