So I have noticed an issue starting in the last three releases of Plex server for windows. I say for windows because my DVR process only runs on that. Daily when it is a new EP of the Ellen Show It is set to record and strip commercials. it is writing the shows out to a mount point attached to the Main host. I have a three server configuration. On dedicated to Movies, one to TV shows and Music and the third is the DVR toolset. Thanks to the new player client this works great. The issue I am having is that the show gets recorded. and properly maintained the show data on the DVR server however the Show server where I actually watch the content about a month ago started miss recognizing what was there. it started calling it the peep show. some UK show. I couldn’t figure out why for the longest time. Mostly because I didn’t care. I thought it was kind of funny. Then I realized it was the folder name was getting miss labeled and the Showes hose is having to recognize the show. I fixed the folder name, it fixed the issue for about a week. then it got worse.
As you can see in the screen shott I now have three folders with the show in it. the setup is only supposed to retain the last 5 shows. watched or not. I have tried deleting the schedule and reestablishing it. I have tried renaming the folder and fixing it. This is not the only show like this. I am recording about 4 other shows and it started to happen with them too. Mash, Medium and The Carol Bernet show. Yes, they are old shows. The shows themselves seem to have nothing to do with the issue. With the other shows I am keeping all EP that is not repeated, but because it is changing the folder name of the root show it is losing the data on the EP it has. I am starting to get duplicates and wasting space. I saw the thread with the year thing on the folder name changing or not consistent but the thread doesn’t seem to apply due to the fact that my issue is truncating more than just a year.
It is not critical, it is just annoying. So I have gone looking to see if anyone else is having the same issue. I am not sure what logs to publish or if anyone else is even having the same issue. I have the DVR set up as its own host just because, with the commercial stripping and it is not a high horsepower Windows PC, it is about all it can handle doing. It is not even handling the majority of my library. I only have it mapped to one of 8 drives for writing.
