Using an HDHomeRun to record Quantum Leap (2022) and whilst Plex does record them and label the files as Quantum Leap (2022) it creates a new folder in the directory named simply Quantum Leap and adds them to that despite there being a correct folder right next to it.
It also neglected to record the first 10 episodes of the season because of this, since I have the original series on a different hard drive. But its the same server obviously, so it saw those files and decided there was no need to record “duplicates”.
Essentially, despite correctly labelling the files as being part of the current series, it doesn’t know which folder they belong in, despite me even doing the thing where you name the folders with the TVDB number to differentiate them. But you can only fix the match of a full series, not individual episodes…
The DVR is going to name it’s folders/files via how the data is presented in the EPG.
If the DVR detects that you already have a series but want to record anyways then make a dedicated DVR library and set the recording destination to there.
If it is naming the files and folders according to the EPG why do they not match each other?
The files are named properly with correct titles matching the current show with proper synopsis and descriptions, actors and everything, however they are being placed in a folder that doesn’t match them. And again, it even adds the [2022] part to the file name itself, it clearly makes the distinction on a file level.
It gets everything about the episode right and then creates a new (incorrect) folder and dumps it into that.
I’ve seen the DVR create multiple folders for the same show, each with one or more missing leading letters. Very frustrating. the guide shows the same show all the time.
