This is good news. Looks like you are getting somewhere with the Plex Devs.
They might be solved (for local playback only), when they upgrade to Exoplayer2. But there’s no indication yet as to when that might happen.
Correct, from what we’re seeing this should solve the problem when you are Direct Playing, or in situations where you were Direct Streaming before and no longer need to with ExoPlayer v2. There are some other issues being worked on by engineering outside of this that need to be addressed before releasing to the public. Unfortunately I don’t have an ETA for that.
It won’t solve the underlying problem that the transcoder can’t handle files that switch audio, i/p or resolution mid-stream. As it stands, the transcoder is completely incompatible with UK HD broadcasts.
We’re testing to confirm some data points and will be filing an internal issue with the server team to investigate the transcoder limitation.
Hi, any news on this? I have a load of expensive hardware at home not being used because if this issue. The wife has not worked that out yet…
