I observed an issue when trying to record a movie with DVR. No matter how many times I selected record, it would not show it in my recording schedule. What I guessing is the issue is that I was trying to record a movie that had the same name as an entirely different movie that already existed in my library.
i.e. Gladiator from 2000 exists in my library. I tried to set DVR to record Gladiator from 1992 and was not able to.
Movie record options does not include new and repeat airings like TV does. I tried checking the option “Replace lower resolution items” in the advanced settings and it allowed me schedule the recording.
*Note - I am running plex server on an unbuntu-type linux and have my main library files in a directory that is read only by plex and recordings are made in a separate directory where plex has write permissions, so I am expecting that the scheduled recording should record and the existing item (which is actually a different movie) should not be overwritten. I’ll have to see what happens in a few days when the movie actually airs
Seems like a miss somewhere as some things may have the same title even if the file names will be different (i.e. Gladiator (2000).mkv exists and Gladiator (1992).ts is what will be recorded). Or, that a custom file name cannot be configured before recording. Even a warning that the recording will not be scheduled because item already exists would be helpful.
