Plex DVR No Upcoming Airings - Movies

I’ve encountered consistent problems where Plex DVR won’t record a movie in the EPG because a movie with the same title already exists in my library. This is most annoying. Case in point: I am trying to record the 1952 movie “Monkey Business.” It shows up as: No Upcoming Airings, due to the fact that I have the 1931 Marx Bros. movie Monkey Business in my library. If I physically remove the 1931 movie from my library (by removing the actual file folder from the HDD), the 1952 movie then drops the “No upcoming airings” message, and returns a record date/time - and will record the movie. I have tried this a few times with different movies in the past, and this works. However, this is a very messy workaround. You would think that the different release dates would be enough to tell Plex that this is a different movie. Is there a better workaround for this (setting, etc.) - or is there a fix in the works? Thanks!

I have the exact same issue. I am unable to record a different version of a movie that is already in my library. “The Beguiled” is an example. I have recorded the older version with Clint Eastwood. When I try to record the newer version it acts as if the recording has been scheduled. However, when I check the scheduled recordings the newer version is labeled as “No Upcoming Airings”. I have not yet tried your workaround (which I will do) but I agree it’s messy and very inconvenient. I would hope the DVR would be able to handle this.
