I set the recording for a football game that started at 6:30 to 10pm. The recording was shown as a partial and only recorded the last 90 minutes of the game. I checked it at 6:30 and it was recording so I don’t understand why the actual recording showed up in plex as only the last 90 minutes.
Im not sure whether this is the same issue as im having (as well as other Plex users) that when there is a news break / advertisement break in the middle of a Movie etc, despite the EPG showing a scheduled recording for the full duration, the recording only stores either the first part or second part of the Movie.
Im told this is an issue that Plex are already aware of… and maybe the same when recording Football etc.
This is a forum post i raised a few days ago about Movies only partially recording…
Thanks for the info and your experience sounds like what I observed for the football game. This really makes the DVR function pretty unreliable. As a matter of fact it recorded the second half after the break, so it sounds like the same problem.
Yes it does sound similar. I recorded another Movie last night on ITV2 (i think it was) and only ended up with 1hr’s worth of recording (so the movie was cut short). Apparently the current workaround is to setup the DVR to have a +60 mins padding time to the end of the recording.
Shame really. Ever since the move from Gracenote EPG ive been having problems with partial recordings, missing EPG or corrupt EPG data.
Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
I see the same thing with Football games. Only the second half is recorded. How does adding the +60min buffer help with this? I can see that helping if it records the first half but not the second.
I am not sure, but placing a large buffer on the recording that goes past the expected end of the game may record the second half and prevent to second half from recording over the first half? I am going to try setting the end buffer to 180 minutes and see how that goes.
I believe that is the only way (currently) to address this issue (put a massive padding time onto the end of a recording within the DVR settings).
I read on another thread that the reason this issue is occurring is due to the Plex EPG provider. Last week I switched to use XMTLV EPG data and had the same issues. Seems to be with the latest version of Plex server.
Not sure how to report this or whether its already been raised?
