Since the EPG switch, Plex will no longer record movies that have programmes in-between, even though the second part also has a record icon against it. The practice of having a short interlude in the middle of a movie is a common occurrence on many UK channels.
Before the EPG change, Plex used to handle this perfectly but now Plex will only record the first part of the movie so I end up with the first hour of a movie – the scheduled recording also actually shows the movie as only being an hour long. I’ve uploaded a screenshot of an example from the guide.
In this example, the James Bond movie Octopussy has a 60 second show in the middle called FYI Daily. Note how both parts of the movie have record icon against them but only the first is recorded. I won’t even go into how odd the description for the 60 second show is…
How can I get Plex to record both parts of the movie? The only workaround I have is to modify the recording and change the ‘minutes after end’ figure to something like 90 minutes.
Any word on this getting fixed? I am still manually extending the recordings, which is very time consuming, especially when my usual workflow is to browse the ‘Upcoming Movies’ section and select record on the ones I want. It is a real pain to have to look them up on a separate website to see what the actual finish time is!
Thanks.
Mike
Or in the meantime, might it be possible to have a link in the programme details page to its location in the guide? I’d be able to see if the times were right then. Or maybe the programme page would have a ‘Programmes following this on this channel’ bit, which would show the next 2 shows (the news and the second half of the movie).
Any updates on this sa2000? It’s been five months and this bug is very annoying. The workaround is a bit time consuming when we used to just be able to click the record button. I’ve resorted to guessing the time I need to extend the recording.
We have been reviewing this regularly with our provider. The problem is that the data is being presented as supplied by the channel.
We now have confirmation that a fix is being designed and will go through the change process for implementing. I do not have any dates on it but the good news is that there is a planned fix
I posted this elsewhere earlier this year - pasting here to make sure this thread gives the current state
I regret that we have a setback on this and it now needs to be fixed in our ingestion process.
It is on the list of developments but is held back at the moment because of some re-engineering of the ingestion process to improve its reliability. Once that is complete then I will push for this to be addressed
