DVR Recording Not Complete. Will Plex Re-Record Automatically?

I am working on a way to identify OTA recordings that did not record the episode completely. I am locating suspected episodes via Linux command line and then using Plex web browser to “Get Info” I confirm its status. Usually " Media Grab Partial Recording Reason The recording was cancelled", but also find other reasons, too.

Can Plex use this info to replace an episode if that incomplete recording comes up in the guide (as long as I keep the recording schedule) or does Plex simple look for the file name to determine not to re-record the episode? I usually delete the episode, so re-recording works, but maybe I don’t need to do this if Plex can determine the error itself. This is not a SD → HD situation.

Also, is there a way to search the Plex database (outside of Plex) to locate these incomplete recordings?

Plex won’t be able to re-record a show if it is already in the database. You could try and uncheck the “Allow Partial Airings” in the Advance options for each show that you are recording. I do not know the exact cutoff for how it would get labeled as a Partial airing, but you could try this and see if it helps.
