Just started experimenting with the DVR feature. I’m able to record from TV and generate files that get placed in my library folder. But they won’t show up when browsing my library. Is this a known issue? Am I missing something?
My setup:
Server 1.5.0 running on a Drobo 5N
Older HDHomeRun device (shows up as “HDHomeRun DUAL” in settings)
Playback via Web App (3.1.1), iOS app (4.9)
Recordings produce “.ts” files, MPEG-2, 1080p, about 25 Mbps.
I can get to playback for the recordings via “Recording Schedule” in the Web App, or “Recently Aired TV” on the “Discover” tab in the iOS app. (Actual playback has some issues that I’m investigating separately—inconsistent “this server is not powerful enough to convert video” messages, for example.)
But when I directly browse the library, they’re not there. I confirmed that I can add other videos manually to the library, and after “Update Library” they appear; just not the DVR videos.
What Library do you have your recordings pointed to?
Are you scanning that Library when looking for them?
Are the flies appearing in the Disk Folder associated with that library??
Are they stuck in the .grab folder??
What Library do you have your recordings pointed to?
I created a Library named “DVR”, with an associated folder.
Are you scanning that Library when looking for them?
Have done “Update Library” multiple times.
Are the flies appearing in the Disk Folder associated with that library??
Yep.
Are they stuck in the .grab folder??
Nope.
To be clear, here’s what my folder structure looks like:
DVR
|— .grab
|— Show A
------|— Season 1
------------|— Show A - s01e01 - Title.m4v
|— Show B
------|— Season 01
------------|— Show B - S01E03 - Title.ts
------------|— Show B - S01E04 - Title.ts
|— Show C
------|— Season 01
------------|— Show C - S05E06 - Title.ts
Browsing my library in Plex, I only see Show A—even though I added it after some other recordings appeared here.
Is it all of your recordings? I, and a couple of others, are having an issue where it records the episode then just deletes it when it moves it from the grab folder. The recording schedule shows the episode but if you click on it it just shows it as unavailable. However, it only does it for me on one channel.
You may want to look at the thread to see if your problem is the same.
I noticed that, after the first few recordings, they began to show up consistently. Don’t know what’s changed.
Those first few recordings continued to not appear, though. I was able to address this by deleting the library and creating a new one. The initial scan picked up the files.
I think I triggered it by creating a new library and retargeting some scheduled recordings to the new library. When they record, the files are added to the right place, but Plex does not show them, even after a manual “Scan Library Files”.
Workarounds:
To get existing recordings to show up: move the files out of the folder, “Scan Library Files”, “Empty Trash”, move the files back, “Scan Library Files”
To get future recordings to show up: delete the scheduled recording and add it again
