I searched high and low for a solution to this and never found one documented. I ultimately found a solution on my own so I’m adding it here for others.
I’m new to the Plex DVR (TiVo no longer supports Canada - good riddance) and have some existing TV shows in my library. One of them is the Good Doctor. When I set the DVR to record the latest episode 1 of season 6, it dutifully recorded it but it didn’t show up anywhere in either my exiting TV library or my new PVR library. but it was recorded and saved in the PVR folder on my drive (where I configured it to record) and was playable via VLC.
Ultimately the solution was a variation of the “Plex Dance” that I (and many others) use when movies don’t show up or are improperly indexed.
In this case the solution was to:
- remove all prior seasons of The Good Doctor from the TV Library folder,
- scan the TV library (so it gets removed from the library listings),
- empty the garbage,
- shut off the Plex server and restart it
Once done the one new episode of The Good Doctor appeared in the DVR library.
After that I re-added the removed prior 5 seasons of The Good Doctor back into to my TV library folder and they all showed up in TV library again but this time the one new DVR recorded episode remained accessible in the DVR library.
NOTE that I have two other shows (so far) that the DVR is recording (Call Me Kat and The Rookie), where I have prior seasons of each in the TV library and they showed up fine in the DVR library without having to do this ‘dance’. I don’t know what was unique about the Good Doctor that caused this hiccup.
