DVR recordings too long and delayed

I’m hoping someone can give me suggestions where to start looking to figure this out. For the last 2 weeks, Magnum PI has started recording very late and is listed as a partial recording. We also record Hawaii 5-0 on the same channel immediately before it.

It seems to me that Hawaii 5-0 is recording longer than it needs to. It records 6 minutes after the show ends after Comskip does its thing. It is set up to record an extra 4 minutes, but maybe that’s close enough to allow for my time being different from TV time.

But then Magnum (which is supposed to start 3 minutes early) doesn’t start for 5 minutes or more after Hawaii 5-0 stops recording, so even if I go back and watch the beginning of Magnum on the tail end of H5-0, there’s still a significant gap.

I don’t think it’s an EPG issue. It claims to know when it is supposed to start and stop.

Where should I look? What should I do.

This seems like a good time to again request manual recording. If I just recorded that channel from 7:00-10:00, I’d be good.

Plex PMS, Ubuntu 18.04, AMD 2400G, Multiple HD Homeruns.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Mike

It is now 3 weeks in a row. Magnum (Denver, Channel 4.1, Friday Night 8:00) only records as a partial recording. I disabled ComSkip and it still seems to skip the 3 minutes of padding and the first three minutes of the show. The recording is then flagged as partial. I’ve dug through logs, but there are a lot of different files. Any suggestion which one I should be look through?

I haven’t watched everything I’ve recorded, but I’ve watched a lot. This is the only show for which this happens. The EPG is planning on recording the correct time.

Next steps?

Thanks,
Mike

I get this randomly as well. Just happened this week with The Resident. Yet other shows around the same time recorded just fine.

We’ll see what happens this week. Plex currently recognizes 4 tuners. It is scheduled to need 2 tuners 6:57-8:03, 1 from 7:50-9:03 window, and 1 8:57-10:04.
