I don’t think this is EPG, but there is a DVR related bug here:

I was trying to record “Avengers Assemble” which aired last Thursday (8-Apr) at 22:45-01:00 on 101 BBC One HD.

The EPG showed the correct times:

I had scheduled it to start 10mins early (my default setting).

The HDHomerun logs shows it starting 5 mins after airing started (15mins after I scheduled it to start). Note the times are GMT and we are now DST/BST (so 1 hour out).

Sadly, my logs have been blown out with other debug and error entries so go back less than 1 day and this occurred 2 days ago. I have attached them all just in case something pops.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

update: After checking through the movie, it is actually called “The Avengers (2012)” so perhaps the EPG was wrong as well (name, not schedule)

I had a similar issue last week when recording Gardeners World on BBC 2 HD. The guide was correct and had the programme starting at 9pm, but for some reason the recording didn’t start until roughly 15mins into the programme.

interesting - and good to know.

As we both had correct guides, something else must be going on. Were you able to save your logs. …can you still get them?

“Avengers Assemble” is the title in the UK and Ireland

Thanks, @captain_caveman2k  …thought I was going nuts.

I must admit I didn’t bother at the time and just watched it on iPlayer. I was going to keep an eye when it recorded the next episode yesterday, but all the schedules changed with Prince Philip passing away. If it happens again I’ll try and grab them.

Thanks - no clues in the logs I am afraid - they only cover about 9 hours

The logs filled up quickly because of some issues that the transcoder encountered when transcoding for intro detection overnight for /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/media/TV Shows/The Royle Family (1998)/Season 00/The Royle Family (1998) - S00E11 - [BBCi] [SD] [540p] - Joes Crackers.mp4 with over 275,000 error lines logged by the transcoder within a 5 minute period

i will raise this for the development team to look into transcoder error logging

I put that into my library months ago. I wonder why it decided to do intro detection now.

Anyway, I have had this “start recording at the wrong time” a couple of times now so it is a recurring - if infrequent- issue,

Edit: forgot to say thanks!

OK,

So I just lost a whole episode this time:

  • HDHomerun logs show no activity
  • Plex says it recorded successfully
  • The file size is 0.

My logs are still so jammed up with stuff, that they only go back 8 hours. The recording was 12 hours ago so we cannot diagnose.

Honestly, this is ridiculous.

Was the file I identified before from a recording - the file causing the excessive logging during Intro Detection ?

Could I get the new logs to see if it is different file this time.

Also could you try increasing number of log files to 20 to see if we get closer to or more than 24 hours of logging

If you are referring to this:
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/media/TV Shows/The Royle Family (1998)/Season 00/The Royle Family (1998) - S00E11 - [BBCi] [SD] [540p] - Joes Crackers.mp4

No, that was not a recording made through Plex (I downloaded it using Get iPlayer Automator and merely saved in in my Plex library. …on 9-Jan (3 months ago).

How do I do that? …I cannot see it in preferences,.xml

cheers!

It is hidden and needs to be manually added
See my reply here to your other thread

cheers - done.

Appears to be same file again - Intro Detection as part of overnight scheduled tasks - for this file

/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/media/TV Shows/The Royle Family (1998)/Season 00/The Royle Family (1998) - S00E11 - [BBCi] [SD] [540p] - Joes Crackers.mp4

Could you let me have the file - upload and send me link by PM

And remove it from your library… Hopefully Intro Detection is only tripping over this file

Done and done.

I just re-downloaded the file and compared the two. They had different file sizes and I think the file itself had problems (bad download maybe).

Version causing problems:

Re-downloaded version:

one is showing as S00E11 and the other as S01E08

The file is not playable - picture ok for first couple of minutes
No sound
and later it is garbage

I will see if any plans to give up on a file after retrying intro detection

that was just a typo.
