DVR scrubbing / fast-forward during recording jumps around

I just want to amend my previous post. After further testing, ALL time-shifting is completely F-ed now. Whether you are recording the show or not. As I mentioned above, it used to “kind of” work. Now, completely unusable.

Come on, Plex - FOOTBALL SEASON IS FAST APPROACHING. I can’t not have a working DVR solution with time-shifting for football. A DVR is PRECISELY why I paid for the lifetime Plex pass. You are ignoring your users and completely reneging on the claim that you offer a working OTA DVR. Ya don’t.

I’m a reasonable person. The others in this thread seem to be as well. No one’s having having hissy fits. I made no complaints when it worked, even though it didn’t work properly. I don’t enjoy complaining. But it’s now not working AT ALL, so I’m not getting what I paid for. Therefore, if this is not at the very least acknowledged soon, I will be demanding a full refund of my lifetime Plex Pass. And looking elsewhere for solutions. I shouldn’t be just shouting into the void here. Someone from Plex should be monitoring Plex’s own forums. Come on Plex, this is so bush league to ignore a litany of complaints from paying customers.

Not holding out much hope, but they did release a new beta for tvOS today. I haven’t had the chance to download and test but once I do I will report back with hopefully good news.

Nope. No good news, latest beta (7/10) still has the exact same problem.

Please Plex, fix this problem. It is very annoying.

Okay guys, I have a fix and Plex Forums won’t let me post the same thing twice, so go to the link below and if you have any problems or questions please feel free to hit me up.

This does require downloading VLC for tvOS/AppleTV. I am not sure how to setup this up across different streaming devices.

Any news…guess not.

I now regret paying for the lifetime pass as I feel like I forfeited any leverage I may have had. I’m not a revenue stream any more.

It would be nice for some Plex developer or support person to chime in here now.

I’m having the same issue. Especially when I try to rewind a show, it skips forward by about 10 minutes. Happens on the newest fire TV stick and 2019 Samsung Q70R TV. It seems to happen more often when clicking rewind multiple times in a row. If I wait between presses it doesn’t always happen, and it behaves fine. It’s very unpredictable.

I’ve had a thread open about this but just couldn’t figure out a great way to explain it. I am glad i have finally found this… IT IS SUPER ANNOYING! WHERE IS PLEX ON THIS!!! Here is my thread for reference:

This appears to be working now with the most recent server version! Nice work!

I’m still having this issue with the latest build as of today. 2/24/20. Frustrating. I wish I would have known about this before signing for a lifetime pass.

Here to report the same problem with Live TV & DVR. Note that I guess that I’m using “live tv” with a time delay.

If I’m watching a 1 hr. show that has is close to the end but I’m only about 5 or 20 minutes in I want to skip commercials. Only, I can’t skip them reliably. When I fast-foward 30 seconds with the button (or by clicking on the time bar) the commercial video and audio continue from where they were, even though the time bar says that I’m now 30 seconds ahead of where I was.

Sometimes I can click backward and forward a few times, sometimes the ‘start’ of the time bar advances with me and I can’t go backwards. Sometimes I go back 10 seconds from the 30 seconds ahead and wind up in a different part of the show, completely out of the commercials. Sometimes the time in the show advances 15 minutes or so and I can’t go back to watch what was missed.

Lifetime plex owner here. I bought it for this exact feature. I’m running the latest version (Version 1.19.1.2701 ) on Synology nas 918+ . viewing on Nvidia Sheild 2019. I am having the exact same problem everyone else is having. as such, a complete waste of money.
