For the past couple of months I have been experiencing unusual behavior with the Plex DVR on my Nvidia Shield. I have American Idol subscribed to record new episodes (actually, I recently switched to subscribe to new and old episodes to see if it makes a difference, but it does not).
The behavior I see:
- Sometimes an entire show records if I have no interaction with the Shield or Plex on my computer.
- Several times the saved recording of the show has a start time of around the time when I signed into Plex on the Shield or opened the Plex server on my computer, so I end up with a partial recording. When I log in it shows that the episode is recording, but apparently it hadn’t been up to that point.
- If I sign into the Shield mid-show and go to Live TV, select the episode, and select watch from beginning, there is no issue and the entire show is also recorded.
I’m not too saavy with reading the logs, but I’m wondering if an episode starts recording at the correct time, but then restarts the recording at the time I open Plex, but only if I don’t watch the episode that is recording. This seems like unlikely behavior, but looking at the latest log for last night’s recording, it appears to have started on time (17H59). But then only the final 33 minutes were recorded, which coincides with when I opened the Plex app on the Shield at around 21H27.
