DVR still recording in smaller than expected frame sizes.

When recording with the Plex DVR, the resulting file size is only at 576p when recording a HD program. Am I missing something obvious? I use a HDHomeRun Connect and have the correct HD channels mapped.

Do all of your shows show that size or just some of them?

Some are smaller. The largest resolution on a show is 1024x576, others are 544x576. I think the resolution does differ when the show is broadcast on a HD channel compared to an SD channel, but still not getting 1080, or even 720 like I would be getting from the YouView box.

Where are you located at as those resolutions don’t make sense to me. Either of them really. That looks like some variation of enhanced definition.

I’m in Yorkshire, and the HDHomeRun Connect is tuned to Yorkshire/Tyne Tees. No problems viewing on the YouView box, just on the recordings via Plex. Do you run the same setup and are able to record in “Full HD”

My setup is HD Homerun Prime with a cable card. I am also in the US so that makes a difference. I certainly don’t have any problem recording in 1080i or 720p depending on what the channel is. The difference that i have observed is based on the stream provided by the channel. Not all channels send the same stream. and some channels may send a lower quality stream over a HD signal. That doesnt’ mean my observations are related to what you are seeing. Do you see a lower quality in the video. If you run a external media info tool does it report the same reoslution.

Unfortunately I have no way of knowing that the recording on YouView is 100% 1080 or even 720. But there is a noticable difference when viewing from the YouView box as opposed to Plex. The fact of the matter is that 576 is not HD, nor is it HD ready. After researching some of the BBC broadcasting information, they do claim to broadcast at 1080.
