So I got a Hd Home Run Prime, a Cable Card and a Tuning Adapter. I hooked it up and got everything working. Live TV and DVR through plex. My issue is the file size. For a 40 Minute recording in HD it is roughly 300ish MB before removing commercials. I do not have it set to automatically trans-code or any other processing before removing commercials. I am used to file sizes of encoded 45 minute shows being 800-1gb a piece. Any Thoughts as to why the file size is so small.
Anyone?.. I cant seem to figure out what is going on or where next to look.
The file plays fine?
I see SD shows normally around 400MB for a 20 minute show with commercials removed.
A 40 minute HD (1080) show with commercials removed is normally around 3.5GB. I transcode everything using mcebuddy from the Plex container to mp4.
I just recorded a HD video and it was 300Mb exactly… almost every file has been in that range . A SD video was like 90 MB
It almost seems like something is limiting the Full download, like I need to unlock something?
My Video is distorted and blocky
Does the tuner device show good signal strength from the antenna?
I can watch live TV no problem it is clear, just recording small files that are not useable. From what I can see it is getting good signal… it is from a cable card.
I did buy the HD homerun Prime used… dunno if that has anything to do with it
I think I fixed my own issue. I started playing around loading Plex onto a fresh VM and noticed it worked fine with no issues. Then I copied my settings (registry) from my server to the vm and it stopped working. So I deleted my registry settings on my server reinstalled Plex server and now it is working.
