The last couple days I’ve been getting a crash on some back to back recordings. The weird part is that there doesn’t appear to be a crash log being generated. Yesterday the recording started 2 minutes late. Today the recording hasn’t started late and the recording schedule shows an error with “There was a transcoder error”. I’m using an old beige HDHR and do not have transcoding enabled. The error message seems to be inaccurate.
Both crashes occurred at 10:00AM when attempting to begin recording “Today With Kathie Lee & Hoda”.
Ok, I admit that I was a bit confused. I didn’t understand that it appears that Plex always tags the beginning of log files with the basic INFO for the server. I assumed this had meant that the server had crashed and restarted.
What appears to be happening is that, for whatever reason, it attempts to record for 30 seconds and then gives this error:
Sep 12, 2018 10:00:30.213 [0x151f35ffb700] ERROR - DVR:Recorder: Part didn't have an audio or a video stream.
Sep 12, 2018 10:00:30.213 [0x151f35ffb700] ERROR - DVR:Recorder: Error 12 (There was a transcoder error) starting the record, shutting things down.
I have referred the evidence to the development team. The tuner capture is for some reason not starting and we continue assuming it did and then log the error 30 seconds later.
I have a pre-release beta build available for you to try. Not been able to reproduce the problem. Could you tell me which download package you use for the install?
Ok, I upgraded to the new beta yesterday. I had it scheduled to record “Today With Kathie Lee & Hoda” at 10:00AM this morning right after “Live with Kelly and Ryan”. It completed the first show but never started recording “Today”. Here are my logs:
