I’ve had a DVR set up in Plex for a few years, which I primarily access through Roku’s in the house. For the last few months every few days (not at any regular interval) the DVR stops recording and I can not tune into any live TV through the tuners through Plex. The tuner is able to be used to view live TV on the PC the Plex Server is running on using the WinTV that shipped with the tuner card. If I delete my DVR in Plex and set it up again the DVR again records and I can view live TV through Plex; but in a few days it stops again and will only work again after deleting the DVR and recreating it in Plex.
Has anyone run into this issue and found a solution or does any one have any idea how to fix this (besides having to delete and create the DVR in Plex every few days)? Thanks
I have been having the exact same issue. It started the same time I added a second tuner and cable card several weeks ago so I thought it was an issue that I created. I have since gone back to 1 tuner and the problem persists so I think it was just coincidental timing.
Since the issue started, the shortest I have gone without deleting and adding a tuner was 2 days but it usually lasts no longer than 4 days before the error occurs and I have re-add my tuner.
This is actually the first issue I have not been able to resolve that drove me to this forum. It is very frustrating.
I am having the same issue. Just bought a new antenna after moving a few months back so I can’t speak to when the issue started.
I’ve completed deleted my DVR… then re-add my two tuners. They work for a bit, but then stop working after a little bit of time (30 min to 1 hour maybe). If a stream is playing already it will keep playing, but cannot start any new streams (even though I have 4 tuners)… and the guide is gone.
Both tuners change from 65 channels to 19 channels (which don’t actually exist).
I have the same tuner as OP: Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD
Server: Windows 11 VM, PMS 1.32.7.7621
What I noticed was I had an inactive device from dizqueTV which had exactly 19 channels. I have just shut down dizqueTV and trying this again. Whether or not that is affecting it, I’m not sure… but either way there seems to be some kind of bug where it’s resetting the DVR devices.
I also ensured my tuner drivers are updated, and restarted my Plex server before this final attempt.
I just lost my tuners again, but this time it’s a bit different. Instead of having to delete the DVR when I went into Plex setup the DVR is already gone on its own. It also says “We couldn’t find any hardware we recognize, but will continue to look for available devices.”, but WinTV is working perfectly so I know the hardware is still functioning properly.
After stopping Plex Server and restarting it the DVR was there in setup, but the DVR/tuners were non-functional until being deleted and readded again.
It seems like the DVR crash may be happening in conjunction with an overall server crash. When plex crashes and relaunches, the dvr no longer works after relaunch and needs re-installed.
