one additional note, i only seem to see this issue on recordings lasting longer than 2 hours. While the problematic ones will be stuck at 100%. The shorter 30min - 120min recordings can still hit 100% then finish
If it helps anyone the issue hasnât occurred again for me after a few updates, from both Windows & Plex. Not sure if it was Windows Server or a Plex issue but my system has been running stable without this issue occurring again for 3+ weeks. There were a couple of cumulative updates for Windows Server 2016 for x64-based Systems over the last month. Currently running Windows Server 2016 Version 10.0.14393 Build 14393 & Plex Beta version 1.11.3.4803.
So I have this issue periodically, and tonight I looked at it a little closer from a process standpoint. Typically it seems to be the same shows and other shows it NEVER happens to. So, the show The Great British Bakeoff started recording at 1pm and showed 100% recorded but didnât complete and wasnât viewable. After that 4 episodes of Bobâs Burgers recorded successfully and were viewable in Plex when I looked into the issue. The .grab folder had 622MB in it of the Mpeg-2 (.ts file), the tuner on the HD HomeRun Prime was still locked to the PBS station for recording. I looked at the Transcode Temp directory and there was a lot of little bits of the episode (probably the rest of it, but I didnât think to look at the size) and also the pieces of an episode of Bobâs Burgers, which as I mentioned, had completed successfully. Looking at the system processes there were two Plex Tanscoder processes still out there, but not doing anything. Since it had already been more than 5 hours since The Great British Bakeoff had finished recording, I power cycled the HD HomeRun Prime. Both of the Plex Transcoder processes disappeared, and the Transcoder Temp folder sessions both were automatically removed. Then it moved the file that existed for The Great British Bakeoff to itâs final library location, but it was only 29 minutes of a hour show.
So it seems that it didnât realease the tuner on the HD HomeRun Prime, which would account for one Plex Transcoder process, but also the other Plex Transcoder process didnât complete and clean up the episode of Bobâs Burgers even though the episode actually got moved into place in the Library for viewing. If the Bobâs Burgers was before The Great British Bakeoff, I would say it caused the problem, but since it was after, it doesnât make much sense to me.
I hope this helps with understanding the state of the process when it breaks, I donât know if itâs the same for everyone, but thatâs what mine looked like at least.
My setup:
Windows 8.1 Core i7, 16GB, HD HomeRun Prime (CableCard)
I am still getting this too. Windows with Happauge tuner. My situation is very similar to the above.
ddddddddddddd
I get the same problem with the WD version and a HDhomerun exstend. works fine for a few days and then eats its own tail
Iâm running into the same issue
Fwiw, I used to record with nextpvr until recently (and then transfer to plex with MCEBuddy). The problem didnât occur then, which makes me suspect that itâs not my hardware.
followup: I disabled the âremove commercialsâ option and restarted the server for good measure, then installed MCEBuddy to do the work of removing commercials outside of Plex. So far, the problem seems to have gone away. Iâll repost if that changes.
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/319045/dvr-tuners-dont-finish-recording-losing-shows multiple threads on this issue still no apparent reasoning nor resolution.
turned on transcode per other thread and testing weâll see what happens
fyi, turning off âremove commercialâ stops stalling for me. Instead, plex now randomly skips recordings with âtranscoding errorâ. Sigh⊠back to nextpvr
