Many of my video files are corrupt. Live TV looks fine except for occasional pixelation. Is this Plex, a signal that isn’t quite good enough, or a failing HD? The HD smart info has no error, but that doesn’t always mean than there isn’t an issue. I’m using a unpowered HD antenna that is up on the wall of our vaulted ceiling about 10 feet up. We are approx 13 miles from the antenna. Most TV stations in our area have their antenna in this 1 location. The channel with the most problems seems to be ABC, but some of the recordings corrupted recordings are from PBS. All of my episodes of Home Improvement turned out great.

Does Plex detect bad signal/corrupted recording files and flag these? It would be nice if it didn’t save bad files and gave the user a message saying why.

Does the antenna specs say it picks up VHF Hi? If the signal is too bad the recording will just fail without much info, it will record pixelated/weak transmissions that can cause issues on playback.

It says VHF but not VHF Hi

I’ve found the problem. The signal was very poor. I’m a bit surprised that rather than giving me an error message that Plex created and saved a corrupt video file.
I bought a Clearstream Max 4v and everything works perfectly.

If you have cut the cable and want local TV just take the dish off the mast and mount your antenna there. you can even just hook it up to the existing cable. It took me less than 20 minutes.

Allow partial recordings is kind of a catch-22, it will continue to try to record a program but it won’t fail on a weak signal.

Glad to hear you got things worked out.
