I recorded Game 5 of Stanley Cup 2 nights ago, its plays back, however when I fast forward then hit play button it continues playing from where I started. If I’m at 1 minute into the program, fast forward to minute 10, hit the play button it plays back from minute 1. There’s no way to forward, skip the breaks between periods. Argh.

The plex_dvr directory is owned by plex:plex.

I converted the .ts file to a mkv.

ffmpeg -i 2022\ Stanley\ Cup\ Final\ (2022)\ -\ 2022-06-24\ 05\ 00\ 00\ -\ Game\ 5\ Teams\ TBA.ts -map 0 -c copy /disk3/plex_other_videos/Game5.mkv

It plays just file, fast forward, rewind, acts just like any other .mkv file. Something with the Transport Stream format is causing Plex grief I suppose.

Huh, not 1 comment, no idea what else I need to add to get a reponse.

Always need to include logs if you want help.

Need to check if it was transcoding during playback and why.

I’ll check it out tonight.

The DVR source file is MPEG2, its transcoding to 264 to play on the Roku. I have a NVidia P2200 GPU which Plex recognizes. Why wont fast forward work?

Check your Roku settings.

Allow MPEG2

Allows direct streaming of MPEG2 for live TV and DVR when using original video quality

No subtitles or closed captioning or it will transcode.

What CPU/RAM? Most of the DVR tasks are CPU heavy.

I’ll check the settings tonight.

If any content is being transcoded, DVR or a local file, do FF & REW not work?

FF & REW works if you have sufficient resources.

My PMS has 8 core Intel Xeon E5-1620 3.5 GHz CPU with 96 Gigs RAM, NVidia P2200 GPU. That should be enough horsepower I’d think.

This weekend I’ll enable MPEG2 on the Roku client.
