Live TV Fast Forward and Reveres Controls (10 minutes vs 1-2hrs)

I noticed when there is short time (less than 10 min) when there is DVR playback. Fast forward and reverse controls work as expected. However, when watching 1-2hr the Fast forward if you click once (10 sec forward) sends you back 5 minutes or so. Until you end up at the beginning where you started watching the channel. Hitting the Reverse (10 sec) also sends you back 5 min or so. there are a few indexes. Then i tried FF all the way to live. It does not exit on live, when you get to live in FF mode it will sit freeze frame on the live part. Then, the only way i found to get to the closest index to live was hit reverse to slow the FF to regular speed and you end up 5-10 min behind live.

The only resolution is to click on and off the channel every 10 minutes or so…

I have seen a lot of posts on this. Is there a resolution? Can someone point me in the right direction if it’s something I can do on my end? Like limit the amount of DVR to the last 10 minutes or something?

Unfortunately this is a known problem that plex has yet to address and even acknowledge. I’m not sure if they’ve abandoned this feature that many of us paid for, but it’s unacceptable. Here’s a list of other issues related to or exactly the same as what you’re seeing I believe. @AuburnEngineer what client platforms are you using?

Plex live TV/Roku OS 12.5 fails on 1080i channels

Impossible to watch while recording?

Is it always a massive cluster of trying to be able to FF and REW while currently recording? I tried tonight and it was like the Plex was haunted. I would try to jump forward 10 seconds and it would jump back a random X minutes. FF was a fools gambit, it wouldn’t work at all. Live TV & DVR Routinely Buffering And Plex App Often Crashes On Chromecast With Google TV

I have been running Plex server for many years and have used the Live TV & DVR off an on with an HDHomeRun Quatro. I recently installed an antenna and reconnected my HDHR. Everything went well but when I use a CCGTV it routinely buffers and the Plex app often restarts. I’ve tried force-stopping the Plex app and clearing cache but it behaves the same way. I haven’t see anyone from the plex team comment on this glaring easy to reproduce issue in a long time (like >1year), this issue also has happened in the past a several years ago, and was resolved, and then the issue reared up again a couple of years ago-ish and it’s been untouched, and unacknowledged since then. I’ve offered help, logs, etc and hasn’t been touched. I’m not sure what to make of it and I’m not sure why no one will acknowledge it. I’m almost certain it’s a server side issue as it happens with any of the clients I’ve tested, either that or it’s code shared amongst all clients. To avoid the frustration and blood pressure increases over the issue I’ve resorted to just letting all recordings finish before attempting to watch. I keep my server update to latest beta, and it’s still not resolved… I hope it gets attention, but I’m not optimistic.
