Dynamic Libraries and/or Pinnable playlists

My use case:
I have >1000 movies. My 3yr old likes to watch a handful of Disney movies. I don’t need him to have his own account or be restricted, but I also haven’t found an efficient way of listing just a few movies to make it easy to choose which one to play for him.

The hack that I’ve done is to create a separate library called “Son Movies” and then manually symlink movie folders from my main collection into his folder. The main benefit of this is that his library can be pinned to my left-hand nav. Using a playlist means a few more clicks and also having to browse through any other playlists I’ve got.

Unless there’s already a way to accomplish this, my request is for dynamic libraries created from either a collection or a label. Seems very similar to the Plex Home sharing restriction.

Alternatively, being able to pin and/or share a specific playlist seems like it would do the job as well. Maybe that’s more on the Plex App side rather than the Server?

Pinnable collections would do it too: Pin Collections to Home Screen

Plex’s solution for what you’re trying to do is a user (managed or otherwise) with restrictions. If you set up a user for your son, share your Movies library with that user, and set the user’s restrictions like this:

Then that user will only see movies with that label. I used “Harry Potter,” but you can use anything you want - your son’s name, for example. Then all you have to do to select which movies he can see is edit the Sharing Label on the movies.

Thanks @beckfield, I’m aware of the user-level sharing restrictions and that’s the same functionality that I want. However, I’m looking for a bit smoother experience than having to switch users each time I want to watch something different. My son isn’t able to use the TV himself yet and so I just need some simple shortcuts for myself to browse the things he usually likes to watch. Collections and playlists do this well, I’m just asking for them to be surfaced a bit more prominently within the interface.
