Server Version#: 1.43.0.10162
With the new FFmpeg 6.1, I had hoped that we could finally correctly report the channel count in DD+ tracks…
So I upgraded to 1.43.0.10162 and re-analysed one of my EAC3 movie files. Previously, 7.1 was displayed as 5.1. Now they are shown as 4.0 - lol

MediaInfo:
##Edit1: TrueHD and AC3 are not affected*
##Edit2: It only affects 7.1 audio tracks, my EAC3 5.1 tracks are correctly shown as 5.1 after reanalysing.

##Edit4 - May/2026: Starting with server version v.1.43.2.10687-563d026ea (beta) DD+ 7.1 is correctly identified as 7.1!!! Thanks!

I’m seeing the same thing in server version 1.43.1.10183 (the build posted by @chris_decker08 the other day) with EAC3 7.1 audio tracks.
After analyzing the media, it says EAC3 4.0

Added to my list. Does this affect playback or just display?

On my end its just a display issue.
I believe this is effecting playback. Files that are EAC3 7.1 detected as EAC3 5.1 do not play on latest plex app for iOS and desktop safari web. however does work no issues on PS5.

edit: nevermind, saw the ‘after analyze bit’, ran a manual analze and sure enough:

With version v1.43.1.10261-cf67c1410, it got more confused…
EAC 4.0 is now 6.1 after reanalysing…

Thanks for the fix, but EAC3 7.1 is still not shown as 7.1 and only as 6.1 as shown above…

this occurs for some 7.1 tracks, since it does not affect playback it was deemed lower priority to fix.
