EAC3 problem

Hi ,

is there any tricks to make the audio EAC3 working with plex ?
I can converte (transcode) but i want to play the movie from my client on pc (windows 10)to the server in lan network.

Many thanks

Nes

Take another player.

For me this doesn’t work on my Amazon fireTV 4k stick.
If I take the unofficial Linuxclient, the Plex from my Panasonic-TV, or even Kodi with the Plex-addon it works without problems…

Or wait and see, I read that the latest Android beta version should be better?

What about EAC3 is not working?

What client(s) are you using?

If the client cannot directly handle EAC3, PMS should transcode it to a supported format.

FWIW, EAC3 audio works fine on my clients: Nvidia Shield, FireTV Cube, Plex for Windows, Plex Media Player, Android phone, LG SmartTV.

Thanks for your reply, i just add to my initial post the fact that i use a windows client.
I’m maybe wrong but in the past i’m pretty to had the ability to read EAC3 movie…

i’ll check with kodi

ps: i don’t want to transcode…

Which windows client? Plex for Windows? Plex Media Player (PMP)?

If you are using the Plex app from the Windows Store, you should change to either Plex/Windows or PMP. The Windows store app is discontinued. It had no development work for about 2 years, so it is badly outdated.

Can you explain further?

What do you mean by “read EAC3 movie”?

Will the movie not play? Will it play but no audio?

Thnaks for your reply FordGuy61.

I’m using plex for windows on win10
Vers 1.4.1.940-574c2fa7

the movie play perfectly i just got no audio.
just try few minutes ago with a movie with 2 audio track :

one AC3 the other EAC3.

the AC3 works fine
the EAC3 no sound.

Thanks for the info.

What happens if you play the movie using the web interface, https://app.plex.tv/desktop? Does the EAC3 audio play correctly?

If it plays in Plex Web, but not Plex for Windows, then try uninstalling / re-installing the Plex application. If not deleted by the uninstall process, also delete the folder C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Plex before re-installing. If possible, reboot your PC after re-installation.

i just download the plex media player ( wich i never tried ) from your post and it’s work…
and yes it’s working too on the web version of the player.
So thanks !! that a solution for me

ps ; i’ll stil investigate to the “plex for windows” issue and give a feedback
