whenever i load new video media into my plex server sometimes gets the metadata really really wrong… like classifying christopher eccleston’s run on doctor who as it’s christopher lowell (home improvement show) any ideas or programs i can use to fix my file’s data or am i hosed.

1st rule of getting Plex to name correctly is:
Follow the naming conventions exactly.
2nd rule of getting Plex to name correctly is:
FOLLOW THE NAMING CONVENTIONS EXACTLY!!
3rd rule of getting Plex to name correctly is:

The only thing to add to those is that for TV shows the date in parenthesis is more important than it used to be and folder names and structure is much more important than the names of the files themselves.

Edit: FileBot will fix a lot of problems. Use this string as a starting point for TV shows:
{n.replaceTrailingBrackets()} - {s00e00.lower()} - {t}

ok those help… sort of. but i’m still having the same problem with doctor who, the files are named right, but it’s still coming up as christopher lowell…

for the record, the matt smith and david tennant episodes follow the same naming scheme and nothing went wrong with them.

What Doctor Who series?
What season?
These are the questions you must ask and answer yourself because Plex cannot understand your naming logic.
