Until I manually edited the title on my Plex server, it was showing up as the TV Show Miss Marple. And while I manually edited the Plex server info, it still only shows that I have four episodes instead of 13.
When adhered to, PMS will get it right every time.
You probably have some work to do. An automated renaming tool will help you a great deal if you have a lot of media (we all get to that level at some point )
The articles below show the details.
The short form TL;DR is:
===================
TV Series:
Series Name/
Season 01/
Series Name - S01E01 - optional title here.ext
S01E01 stands for Season 1 - Episode 1 . It is an unambiguous defacto standard for media servers.
===================
Movies: (you store the extras, interviews, behindthescenes, etc with each movie)
Movie (Year)/
Movie (Year).ext
Some_extra_here-TypeOfExtra.ext
These are usually drag & drop. You have to verify the results offered match what you have. If it were totally automatic then Plex would have been able to match.
@ChuckPa I’ve used TMM to embed metadata and jpgs. But still some items are not showing on Plex. Here are several more items I found that are not appearing in Plex.
First Civilizations (2018) S01e01 – War [720p HDTV].mp4.
First Civilizations (2018) S01e01 – War [720p HDTV].jpg
First Civilizations (2018) S01e02 – Religion [720p HDTV].mp4
Ect….
Plex doesn’t like the “PBS” or the “Series 1 Part 1”
It needs to be s01e01 format
If named properly all the metadata in that folder you have will be pulled automatically by Plex
The date (2018) isn’t always necessary but it’s a good practice to follow. The square brackets [720p HDTV] let’s Plex know to ignore that information so it doesn’t conflict with the name of the actual show
