EDL Director: EDL for Plex

EDL Director is a utility program that takes in a video file, an EDL File, and then spits out a new video file with the EDL changes.

EDL Director

I found myself like many in need of EDL support for Plex. As I assume Plex has many reasons for not supporting this feature, I figured I’d come up with my own solution. As it’s served my needs well, I figured I’d release it for others to try with similar needs.

Details can be found on the readme of the link. Basically, it will give you a copy of a video edited to your needs (not as ideal as a player, but here we are). You’ll need to provide your own EDL file to go with the video, but then you should be good to go.

I only ask that you be kind when using it and report any problems here so we can figure out a way forward. Testing so far has been mostly Windows, so I especially look forward to any Mac/Linux users feedback so we can get things ironed out if need be.

Other than that, hope you enjoy

I would prefer Plex to support edl files already in the folders. Emby supports them. I see a feature requests from more than 5 years ago so it is safe to say it will never happen.
