Especially since DVR support has been added to Plex I would highly suggest that at least support for EDL files be supported if not optional support for Comskip itself. I know commercial detection/removal can be a controversial subject but adding optional support for those who want it would be a not so aggressive move that would only benefit users.
Completely agree, this would keep me from having to re-ffmpeg my files to include chapters for commercials.
I’m would like this very much +1
While I don’t know what the plans of Plex are in regards to EDl support…
Adding Chapters to an MKV should only take a few seconds using mkvpropedit, there’s no need to use ffmpeg.
@hthighway: It’s EDL not EDI. And the point wasn’t that I don’t want to use ffmpeg, it’s that I need to use any application at all.
If Plex can read the EDL file (simple text file with commercial start/stop times) then it would be able to automatically jump to the indicated times making any other program mkvpropedit/ffmpeg/etc. unnecessary.
Sorry I used a lower case “L” by mistake… Now the underlying meaning of my post is ruined forever
