Is there a way to have Plex use the first downloaded poster/thumbnail for an episode found by the metadata agent rather than having it default to the embedded thumbnail (if there is an embedded thumbnail)?
The reason I ask is because the embedded thumbnail is usually the season cover rather than something actually pertaining to an episode. I can manually change it, but I was hoping there was a feature somewhere that basically said “Ignore embedded metadata”.
About all you can do is to move the Local Media Assets agent lower in the priority list on your server. That should make it prefer online metadata over embedded.
Keep in mind, this will apply to all embedded metadata. Personally, I’ve found that letting the online databases handle metadata is more headache than it’s worth.
I discovered another way to do this, though it is a bit more work and requires local data. If you save an episode image to the folder, it will be used before the embedded image.
