Plex is now telling me that my libraries on my QNAP server are empty. Movies showing up on server directly.
Can you be a bit more specific about your setup and what issue you experience?
I guess you’re running two servers, one on QNAP, one on Windows.
Not sure where Plex is telling you, the QNAP libraries are empty and how that’s different from “on the server directly” ![]()
I’m pretty much a novice at this. I am running a Mac Studio with Qnap TS 451. The mac is only a few months old and I don’t use this setup often so I don’t know if when I bought the new computer if something happened. I can watch Plex shows on my TV but I can’t access my movies because it shows my Libraries are empty.
I have lots of movies that are showing on my server when accessed directly (not thru Plex).
Let’s start step by step…
Where did you install the Plex Media Server?
Did you add that movie folder of yours to a library of that server so Plex will catalog them?
How are you accessing your Plex server from the Mac? Are you using the browser or one of the desktop apps (e.g. Plex for Mac or Plex HTPC)?
The Plex Media server is on The Qnap TS451 running 1.28.0. Yes… the system used to work perfectly. All my movies showed up on Plex on my TV, computer, ipad etc. I have the plex app installed on Roku for 1 TV. On Samsung Smart TV on another set and on my Mac I go to Plex.tv and click on open plex.
Plex is displaying the libraries as empty in all apps?
Also if you access the server using http://[QNAP IP address]:32400/web ?
Is the library still linked to your media folder on the NAS? (check via the context menu of the library in your sidebar: ⋮ > Manage Library > Edit.. → Add Folder)
My ipad shows my server if offline.
When I go to manage library… I’m not seeing an Edit button. See attached.
I copied and pasted the like and it took me to my browser… to the Qnap page
Well… these screenshots seem to imply there are no libraries to start with – just a n empty server.
Have you at some point uninstalled/reinstalled the app on your QNAP?
I’ve got it working now. I went to Add Library and there were 20 /30 different directories to choose from. I selected Cache and I found the different Libraries and added them back. Thank you so much for your time, I appreciate it.
