Enabling VOBSUB subtitles on a x264 video causes the video to stutter and eventually freeze. The issue seems to be somewhat intermittent. The same movie with same subtitles seem to be working fine on a Windows 10 PC.
Any ideas?
I noticed that this is not just VOBSUB issue. The video may start to stutter randomly even without any subtitles. Also, it seems to only happen on Win 8.1 as of now.
Another problem is that PMP will start randomly consuming about 15-17% CPU when idling and doing nothing (no paused video) and then refuse to play anything, until I force close it and restart the program… Very disappointing.
Go and search for updated device driver software for your graphics adapter.
Updating DirectX is also recommended.
Last thing to try:
Put PMP into its TV mode.
Click on the user avatar, then on
Settings - Main
Toggle ‘Native OpenGL’
Also worth a try: Settings - Video - ‘Hardware Decoding’
