Hello,
I am running into the problem that on some episodes of a TV series the App on my LG will just buffer endlessly. The episodes that work and the ones that don’t work look equal to me.

Thank you for you last reply.
So I’m testing a DS918+ now and I’m running into the same problem again.
This Synology should be able to transcode right?
I also tried to play the file from an usb device on the TV and that worked fine.
You need a Plex pass to allow hardware transcoding, and you need to enable HW transcoding in the Plex settings. I have a DS918+ and it runs everything perfectly, both over the local network and also via t’interweb to my dad’s OLED TV 130 miles away. Currently have sitting on the DS918+ over 300 movies in both H264 anmd H265 format (H265 needs transcoding as my 5 year old Samsung doesn’t have the codec). I also have almost 2,000 tv episodes and they all work perfectly.
It’s also absolutely worth reading and implementing the advice in this link READ ME FIRST: About Synology
I tried to get Logs that show more than the posted one above but it doesn’t work.
Besides the
Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected after 382272 bytes: 104 - Connection reset by peer
Nothing shows up.
I got the same problem, even if I direct stream to an ATV4
Hi, I have buffering issue with my synology DS918+. I am running latest version of the OS as well as Plex. Both CPU and RAM are running around 25-50% of the full capacity when the buffering happens. I have attached the log files. Please help. Plex Media Server Logs_2019-07-19_20-44-25.zip (2.5 MB)
Those numbers, depending on processor, usually mean you’re maxing out a single (or two) cores doing subtitles.
May I see the XML of one of the items which does this?
ALSO Please turn VERBOSE back off? It is off by default. It should only be used when requested. DEBUG ON only. VERBOSE OFF. Then recreate and gather fresh logs.
Thanks for looking into it. Where can I see the XML? I attached the log files with verbose turned off. Plex Media Server Logs_2019-07-21_11-24-58.zip (3.0 MB)
Thank you for the logs.
I found the issue, which confirms my suspicions, Subtitle burning is active.

Hardware transcoding is running however the CPU must burn in the subtitles. The CPU doesn’t have enough power to burn in the subtitles for that video.
This happens when image-based subtitles are present -or- when “Always Burn” is set in the player settings. (check those please - set to automatic).
Text based subtitles SRT, ASS, SSA are fine with all the Plex players, again, unless Always Burn is active.
