Running on Windows 10 April update. Plex Pass, fully up to date.
PMS scans all libraries fine, including other audio/music libraries, but when it gets to my main Music library, it gets stuck somehow. By stuck I mean it’s stuck in scanning in status, but it never actually finishes scanning the library.
Scanning a premium music library can take hours.
And if you have a rather loose collection of files without a hierarchical organisation into
Artist / Album / Tracks
scanning may actually never finish. (very likely if there are folders with more than a few dozen tracks )
In this case you better use a regular (non-premium) music library
or try to re-organise your files .

I have organized my files into a fairly consistent hierarchical scheme. This issue didn’t pop up until a couple days to a week ago.

It is not about consistency. It is about having too much files/songs within a single folder.

I’m legitimately curious… what is ‘too much?’ I would like to get this issue resolved asap.
As I wrote above, more than a few dozens.
As a test, you can create a regular music library. (leave the premium library intact for now)
Point it to the same folders and see if it exhibits the same issue.

I created a new basic music library to test for this issue and will report back.
However, IMHO just having a premium library shouldn’t cause these types of issues. My music collection is fairly small, and I’m worried about how bad things will get if it gets any bigger. Just to recap, the current issue is that the scan gets stuck and doesn’t make progress, the status icon for the scan is left endlessly looping.
Alright, the basic library doesn’t display the same issue. It goes through the whole library in less than an hour, like my regular library was doing until recently.
A premium library can be big. As long as you don’t have too many files within a single folder.
Mine has ~1750 artists, 5000 albums and 42000 tracks.
But I’m adhering strictly to the above mentioned organizational structure.
My library is far smaller, and I am adhering to the suggested organization structure.
As I’ve already said, this issue is a new one. My library has been doing fine up to this point.
If it’s really an issue with organization and file organization, the basic library should also be facing the same issue - but it’s chewing through the scans like it’s nothing.

No, not at all. The premium library does things differently.
I have the same issue. So you are saying the premium library can do less than the basic and crashes predictably? (as shown in this exampe) Doesn’t seem to make sense.
The definition of premium that i know means better, not worse.
