Premium music library wont seem to set up - hangs on scan

Hi

I have tried several times to set up a Premium Music Library. Each time I point the library at the music directory, which is properly named, click save and it starts scanning. The only problem is that it only seems to scan a few albums and the stops …the icon continues to spin endlessly until I eventually try to cancel the update…which then doesn’t work …then i have to delete the library.

It seems to be the same issue a couple of other people have reported but they don’t seem to have found answers yet…or at least I didn’t see them on the forums.

Hope someone can help. Logs attached.

regards
Greg

I’m nor positive if this is your problem, but I see that you have it set to automatically update your library. Try turning that off while the Premium library is being created. I’ve seen instances where a change in the folder will cause the scan to stop and start over sensing a change in the folder, so it even gets stuck in a loop and never finishes.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, this made no difference. It is really bugging me.

Can you provide new logs of a fresh scan?

Here you go. Thanks again for looking at it for me.

Your log shows the scanner starting up but then failing after about 2 seconds. I don’t see anything on why it stopped, just that it was told to for some reason. I do see some database slowness, so I would try to optimize your database first to get rid of those slowness issues. If the optimization fails, it could point to a corrupted database which could affect the scanner being able to add entries to the database which could be why the scanner stopped. Also check if there are duplicate bundles in the old plug-ins folder.

hi again, thanks for the suggestions but none of this worked. optimised database ok, cleaned bundles ok,couldn’t see any duplicate bundles
I’m at a loss and probably really need to pay someone to fix this i think. I renamed my entire music library into the required format just to get this to work and still no joy :frowning:
I’ve tried again and attached the logs just in case they help again.

hi - I have the same / very similar issue. Can create a basic music library, but not premium; just hangs (advanced features selected) or cant find content (if I unselect the advanced options). I have 15,000+ tracks / 100GB so I suspect the application struggles with the additional workload of premium. What has it been tested to and how can we get a fix?

I have a similar problem. I try to build a premium music library, but it ends up being another basic library with a different number of albums, even though it searches the same folder.

@jfaury there are a few post I know of on this topic:

slightly different issue but interesting
almost identical issue
almost identical issue

There isn’t a solution that I know of, the only thing you could try is make a much smaller library and see if that scans.

I was thinking that if the gracenote scanner runs under the plex process ID, and it hangs too long (scanning and talking to the server) there may something which reboots the plex process after a set amount of time.

There was an issue with some Logitech media server plugins running under the programs Process ID, causing the program to seize as they had to finish before the program could do anything else.

Does anyone know whether this is the case, and if there is a way to change the restart timer if it is the case?

ok…i am pretty sure that it is related to the power of the NAS…i set one up perfectly fine on my mac mini. I also notice that Plex aren’t providing any further releases of the PMS for the NAS i have anyway …dont even get v1 unfortunately…so it is time to change I guess.

Thanks all for your assistance and time.
