Premium Music Library doesn't find any files

Hi,

I have a strange issue setting up a premium music library. After setting up the folders and the library type, plex seems to stuck within the scanning process without any match. After a certain time the scan stops and plex shows the message “Die Mediathek hat noch keinen Inhalt. Klicken Sie hier um der Mediathek Inhalte hinzuzufügen”.

When I set up a standard music library, plex finds all my files within a few minutes and everthing works fine.

I tagged the filenames with artist - album - tracknumber - title

Running PMS 0.9.16.6 on Debian 8.4

What can I do to create a premium music library?

Any help would be appreciated!
thx in advance

Premium library can take a looooog time to scan.
It may fail if you dump all your files into one folder.

Try a test library of 1-3 albums with a file and folder structure like this:
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1050849/#Comment_1050849

compare the outcome

I created a test folder as suggested but it ends up in the same issue. And now, to make matters worse, when i press “Mediathek hinzufügen” (after setting up folders, library type,…) the connection to my server breaks off for a few seconds before it connects again. So what else can I do to solve that problems?

There are some Errors in the Servers Log file. It seems there is a problem with the connection between server and client which is strange because all my media is accessible. Only the premium music library makes problems.

Sorry, that short a snippet of the log doesn’t tell anything.

Pentium(R) CPU N3700 @ 1.60GHz

is that a NAS or some mini computer?
This cpu hasn’t enough grunt to even transcode one video stream in fullHD.

I have different logs in the logs-folder (different Plex Media Scanner.log; different Plex Media Sanner Analysis.log…) but I don’t know which of them are usefull. Maybe you can give me a hint which one is significant for my problem.

OT
My system is a SoC from Asrock with a TDP of 6W. It’s a self built NAS running different jobs like PMS, tvheadend, jdownloader, owncloud… Never had any performance issues 'cause I dont need to transcode my streams -> I keep them original.

You had the right file, but these few lines are not enough to diagnose anything.

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!) do NOT check 'Allow Plex Media Server tokens ’
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. empty the log folder
  5. start Plex Server
  6. wait 5 minutes
  7. shut down Plex server
  8. wait 1 minute
  9. zip up the whole log folder and attach it here

Thanks for the logs. This looks all perfectly ordinary.
Is your server otherwise busy with SyncJobs, Optimize Jobs or creating VideoPreview Thumbnails?
How high is cpu load, 5 minutes after a fresh start?

Please delete your test music library. Then repeat the log gathering procedure, this time with a few steps more thrown in:

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. empty the log folder
  5. start Plex Server
  6. wait 2 minutes
  7. create your music test library new
  8. wait 10 minutes
  9. shut down Plex server
  10. wait 1 minute
  11. zip up the whole log folder and attach it here

While the serve ris busy doing the above, please refrain from doing anything else in Plex like adding more libraries, or watching media or just browsing the library.

Sorry, I don’t see anything in my inbox.

Sorry for the late reply.
Now you’ve got the right ones in your inbox.

And thanks a lot for your time and quick replies!!

CPU Load is quite low. About 10% after a fresh start. Most of them is used by tvheadend. Plex is using about 1-2%.

And while (and a while after) you added the albums?

I still don’t see anything conclusive in the logs. Nowhere do I see an indication of you adding a music library or adding music to it.
Could you please add yet another album and look out for crash dumps afterwards?

hmmm…strange. I sent you one more log with the steps you described above but this time I added three additional mp3s to the music folder during the scanning process.
The crash dump folder is empty.

CPU load keeps at ~2% running plex. Just for about 2 seconds when I started to scan the music library the load bumps to 100% before it fall down to 2%.

Did you keep in mind that re-starting PMS will clear out this folder?

That is quite normal.

I’ll have to refer to a Linux expert I think.

Thank you. The crash is happening on a Gracenote search request. eg this one

Jun 03, 2016 17:52:18 [0x7fd1b17fc700] DEBUG - Request: [192.168.1.36:64562] GET /services/gracenote/search?fingerprint=1&mixedContent=1&multiple=0&tracks[0].path=%2Fmedia%2Fraid%2Fowncloud%2Fm6r0%2Ffiles%2Fmusic%2Ftest%2FBeats%20International%20-%20Let%20Them%20Eat%20Bingo%20-%2002%20-%20Dub%20Be%20Good%20To%20Me.mp3&tracks[0].userData=0&tracks[0].title=Dub%20Be%20Good%20To%20Me&tracks[0].artist=Beats%20International&tracks[0].albumArtist=Beats%20International&tracks[0].album=Let%20Them%20Eat%20Bingo&tracks[0].index=2&tracks[0].parentIndex=1&tracks[1].path=%2Fmedia%2Fraid%2Fowncloud%2Fm6r0%2Ffiles%2Fmusic%2Ftest%2FBen%20E.%20King%20-%20Supernatural%20-%2001%20-%20Supernatural%20Thing%2C%20Part%20I.mp3&tracks[1].userData=1&tracks[1].title=Supernatural%20Thing%2C%20Part%20I&tracks[1].artist=Ben%20E.%20King&tracks[1].albumArtist=Ben%20E.%20King&tracks[1].album=Supernatural&tracks[1].index=1&tracks[1].parentIndex=1&tracks[2].path=%2Fmedia%2Fraid%2Fowncloud%2Fm6r0%2Ffiles%2Fmusic%2Ftest%2FBetoko%20-%20U%20So%20Fine%20EP%20-%2001%20-%20U%20So%20Fine.mp3&tracks[2].userData=2&tracks[2].title=U%20So%20Fine&tracks[2].artist=Betoko&tracks[2].albumArtist=Betoko&tracks[2].album=U%20So%20Fine%20EP&tracks[2].index=1&tracks[2].parentIndex=1&lang=en (4 live) GZIP

The log and the crash dmp will be referred to the Plex Development team and I believe it will need to be passed by them to the Gracenote support team
