Enigma2 support for Plex DVR/LiveTV!

I can only speak for myself. I had DM800HD-PVR for years. A lot of newer extensions were not running because there was no memory. I’ve used Newnigma2. But right Peter91101 run a pretty old image version on OE1.6, your DM900 version should be OE2.5…

The differences between a Dreambox from 2008 like the DM800HD PVR and a DM900 should be significant. But I’m not a programmer. Only longtime Enigma2 users.

But I agree with Andy. Only thing you can do is ask the image team to add them. Especially for the newest Dreambox models which use the OE2.5.

I found the logs and the last entries are the following ones:

Jul 11 16:03:55 dm800 user.notice kernel: [4294759.009000] JFFS2 notice: (838) check_node_data: wrong data CRC in data node at 0x03512e00: read 0x29e7b50b, calculated 0x1747b8ee.
Jul 11 16:04:03 dm800 user.info kernel: [4294766.986000] bcmfb: creating surface with pixel format 0x07e48888 (BPXL_eA8_R8_G8_B8)
Jul 11 16:04:03 dm800 user.info kernel: [4294767.003000] bcmfb: disable manual blit
Jul 11 16:06:15 dm800 user.notice kernel: [4294898.905000] JFFS2 notice: (463) check_node_data: wrong data CRC in data node at 0x031b9800: read 0x45cef6c7, calculated 0xbb6df82f.
Jul 11 16:06:44 dm800 user.notice kernel: [4294928.428000] JFFS2 notice: (463) check_node_data: wrong data CRC in data node at 0x01df6200: read 0x90ff25ba, calculated 0x8a530b80.

Definitely a memory problem? I’m using Newnigma2.0 which is based on OE2.0 i guess.

In my opinion is a Dreambox DM800 as a Singel Tuner Box with very little memory badly suitable as a streaming source.
An exact specification of the DM800 model would be helpful
DM800HD PVR (Generation 1)
DM800HD se (Generation 2)
DM800HD se V2 ((Generation 3)
This also makes it possible to make an exact statement of the available memory
Also the image version Newnigma2 Vx.x (or Gemini Vx.x @Peter91101)
Frankly I don’t think it is a question of memory. I had the exact same issue with my DM 900 not booting anymore, which should be more than powerful enough. I guess the problem is that Dreambox images have a different implementation of the streaming server, which is different from what is found in the open* images, for which this plugin was produced.
At least this should be the case for my DM900, not sure about you @Peter91101 since you run a pretty old image version.

Could you solve the problem?
Nope. My python skills are non-existing and additionally I don’t know the Dreambox ecosystem well enough. I just left it as it is since I am not super keen on the DVR functionality in Plex.
@furrore: Possibly the lack of memory is an extra layer of issue source.
There were already requests in both Dreambox and newnigma forums but no one seemed to be interested.

@Coxeroni
How I said I’m not a programmer. But under OE.2.5 it will need different adaptations than under older OE2.0 or OE 1.6. However, I am happy to be at the Newnigma2 Forum or at Vti for the fact that Andy’s great work could even be installed from the feed. Unless Andy has no objection.

I am on both forums under the same user name. At Vti it has already some interested. A Newnigma2 co. programmer has just buy a PLEX Pass on my recommendation. So I hope it’s just a matter of time.

My colleague at Newnigma2 Team think your image is too old and recommends an update to: newnigma2-ipk-weekly-dm800-07_07_2017

I forwarded the logs to him from here. I hope this helps you further.

Thank you! That’s very kind of you. My dm800 already runs that version :weary:

@pescheLi
Do we want to try to make a contribution in the Newnigma2 forum? Together we can perhaps reach more attention? My problem is all my DM800HD-PVR I have given away - so I have no chance to test.

no objection, i have even included a bitbake file in the git for other teams to use.

@andyblac1974
GREAT!!!
@pescheLi
I have now started a post here: https://board.newnigma2.to/wbb4/index.php/Thread/28387-Neues-Plugin-Enigma2-Plex-DVR-LiveTV/

Where can I find the actual alignment of my configured tv-stations, where is that saved and can I edit this file instead of doing it from plex settings?
Already aligned a lot of tv-stations and I’d like to save this configuration so I can go back to that alignment anytime I like.

I have some sport channels in my bouquet-list which I can’t align as they are not available via cable, telekom or vodafone in Germay… how do I get them to work if I don’t wonna align them “wrong” as they are not shown if not aligned at all. There should be a possibility to watch such stations as well even without epg.

unfortunately no, plex requires EPG data to watch / record, even to see the channel inside plex. that is a plex issues not an issue with my plugin.

my plugin just passes the channel lineup to plex in the order on your box, once you get in plex setup side that out of my control, the best thing to do is order your channels in your e2 box to match that of the chosen EPG provider from plex, then the next time you add it, it will be in same order. Plex assumes your are using the official channel lineup.

First of all: great plugin and working from you, thanx!

Understood how it works… so I can only hope there’ll be an EPG provider for satellite users in the future.

Updates openpli 6.0RC yeasterday, plexdvrapi updated to version 2.0.
Now my channel list is automatically updateed to plex, it has now 3600 channels and plex does not like that.
Channel mappings are different and f i want to change it, it does not load because of the 3600 channels.
Is it possible to limit the channels?

In the version befor i made a fastscan channel list from my provider and put this in the config of plexdvrapi, then i loaded my original channel list with multiple bouqets. This way plex only saw 100 channels.

I’ll see if it can come up with something, can you edit bouquets ok? so if I made plex look for a bouquet section called Plex are you capable of doing that?

@andyblac1974 do you know if plex will record iptv channels, that’s assuming I can first get them into my epg on my enigma box.

as long as you can find EPG guide data for plex, I see no reason why not.

Yes, no problem.
But maybe can parameter the option so we can choose a bouqet ourselves?
