Episode numbers starting with 001 are showing up as multiple streams

I tried searching Google, but could not find an answer.

I have an anime series I’m trying to add to my library, where the episode numbers are three digits long, and are going from 001 to 148. Is there any way to get this imported into Plex correctly? Episodes 1-48 are showing up in Plex as two streams of the same episode.

Can I import this into Plex correctly without having to change the filenames? Should I just rename them with a filename changing tool - I have done that in the past, but back then I wasn’t familiar with Plex like I am now. I’ve tried Anime Series Scanner, but to no avail.

If anyone can help, please let me know. If you need more information, I’m happy to provide it.

I am running on Windows 10, and I’m currently verifying my library with the web application. My clients including PCs running Windows and Linux, an Xbox One, a Playstation 3 and a Roku.

Thanks in advance!

What’s your naming scheme?

Series title - 001.mkv

or is it

Series title - S01E001.mkv

?

Also, how is it listed on TheTVDB? Is it broken up into multiple seasons? or is it a single season of a bunch of episodes? Does TheTVDB have the Absolute Order for that show?

These are all important questions… Or, you could just give us the name of the series and we could help from there…

For what it’s worth, Black Clover and Boruto both are going over 100 episodes in a single season at the moment, and mine are named as follows and working correctly, because that’s how TheTVDB has it setup.

Fixed my problem! Was trying to import Hunter x Hunter with episode numbers starting from 001 and going to 148. I think the first digit was throwing it off. I had never had a series numbered like that. TheTVDB shows it correctly, it’s my files that are off. I think it was using production numbers, starting at 001 and going through 148. I also discovered that my copy was missing two episodes that weren’t in the Blu-Rays.

Found an application, called Rename My TV Series. It was able to cross-reference the series from TheTVDB and correct my files, and I also had to correct a slight mismatch on the match in Plex from Hunter x Hunter (1998) to the 2011 series.

THAT fixed it. Thanks for the info!

np, if you run into it again though, I’d go for filebot probably, as it does tv and movies as well as music, and will keep with plex’s naming scheme and folder structure as one of the settings…
